>oh, yeah, and the survey questions should have an answer "I don't
>remember", for those of us whose details are a little fuzzy.
Yes, on one thing I did have to think to remember if I did it. :)

>I tested it. Will be interesting to see how much error checking you put
>in there. ;)
Actually there's very little error checking in there. The second part of
the script, the one which does field-specific error checks, is commented
out. About the only thing it does is to be sure people don't try to do
such things as run unix commands from the text boxes and other malicious
things.
I'll manually do a sanity check on the results. I expect we will get
40-50 responses so it will not be that difficult.

You're very welcome, and I would like to once again thank everybody
who did what they did to make DLV happen.
Also, I would like to personally thank those who donated toward such
things as gas and incidentals, and even those who bought us drinks. :)
Those were truly appreciated.

We appreciate the apology, and the updates to your plans. The ones I
don't like are the flat-out no-shows, or those who just make no attempt
at all to cancel or contact the activity coordinators.

The Walter Matthau look (actually, I refer to it as the "groupie" look
from seeing it very frequently at t* group meetings until recently) is
very hard to describe but you can recognize it if you see it. Yes, there
were some examples at times at this year's DLV. No, I don't think you
were one of them. :)
I think one of the best ways to describe it is to say it's frequent
with those who have not yet developed a personal style of dress and
comportment. It is very much a "dude in a dress" look.
I don't think anybody complained about any "Walter Matthau" outfits
or any serious attempt to be presentable.
What I heard about, and what I personally observed, could be summed
up as outfits that were not age-appropriate, size-appropriate, or
occasion-appropriate.
I'm gonna speak very freely here, sorry if I offend anybody.
Clubwear and such will often work (in the right setting) for somebody
who is fortunate enough to be under 30 and under 130. Above those
numbers it usually appears somewhere between ridiculous and obscene.
For an example, look at a few of the Sasha's photos in album 6.
Painfully obvious is one outfit that is very size-UN-appropriate. (If
you don't immediately recognize which one, write me off line, I'll point
it out.)
I'll grant that it could arguably be occasion-appropriate since Sasha's
is an "alternative" venue, but the outfit does not work.
It might be appropriate for a Halloween party or a "Pimp-N-Ho" party,
but that's about it. What's sad is that the person wearing it (I really
have no clue who it is) could look quite presentable. I certainly hope
she did not walk thru a hotel lobby on the way to Sasha's.
There's also the "where's the rest of your outfit" look. Sorry, that
does not work and is quite inappropriate for mainstream public.
Ok, enough along that line for now. :)
>I don't think I'm one of those "in your face" types, either, although I

No, you are not one of those. Those who were tended to be quite obvious.
>Finally, (I bet you are thinking by now, gawd, doesn't she know when to
>quit) is there a policy in DLV where you can refuse registration to
>those people who have a continual habit of no shows ...
Well, I've thought of such things as putting previous no-shows at the
rear of the line for activity sign-ups and such, but in our community I
do think we have to cut some slack with our people. I would rather have
somebody show up the fifth year after registering and no-showing 4
times, than to be blackballed.
Also, I think some of our people lose pace with the activities and don't
show for some because they just cannot get ready in time or are just too
tired to do anymore.

We can say for sure that DLV 2004 will not be the dressing free-for-all
that it was to a few in 2003, and more of the vacation among friends
that it has always been.
The degree of formality by which this happens is an open item.
I would like to see it handled preemptively -- by putting the word out
that appropriate dress and behavior will not only requested, but will be
required.
I do think the word has been already received, loud and clear, by some
of those who dressed inappropriately, and will not repeat.
I would hate to see anybody get banned from DLV. The most I would want
to see happen is somebody get told to go change into something more
appropriate or to lose the attitude.
>Thanks for letting me express myself. Again, look forward to DLV 2004!
You're very welcome. Looking forward to your input toward DLV 2004 and
of course your attendance. :)

I think this will fit best in with the other t* events, and the code
is already in there to track it.
Consider it done.
