Org List:

This is the DLV Organizational List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com) Replies to this
message will be forwarded to the DLV ORG list and not the main DLV list.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Agreement:

Wow, we haven't had that kind of response in a long time. :)

Thanks to everybody who responded with their votes and opinions.

Almost everybody who responded (so far) has been in agreement with the
changes and confirmations I proposed Tuesday, with the exception of a
few abstains, which I'm interpreting to mean don't really care either
way. Nobody marked disagree on anything, and there were no negative
comments on any of the items.

Anyway, to summarize ...

1. Flex (Arville and Charleston) will be the venue for our Tuesday
evening Pre-DLV gathering. (13 agree, 1 abstain)

2. Hamburger Mary's (Paradise and Harmon) will be the venue for our
Welcome Celebration, including dinner. (12 agree, 2 abstain)

3. We will attend LaFemme, earlier show, (MGM Grand) on Thursday
evening. (All agree)

We do have a volunteer to coordinate this, see note below. I hope
everybody will join me in thanking Monique with a big hug and kiss. :)

4. We will attend La Cage (Frank Marino, Riviera) as the feature
activity of Saturday evening. (All agree)

5. Flex will be the venue for the Sunday farewell gathering.
(10 agree, 4 abstain)

I've updated both the summary and the activity database.

Could the local ladies (I know Bea hangs out there, also maybe Leah and
Mindy) please touch base with Flex and tell them (warn them?) that we
will be descending upon them on Tuesday, April 30, and Sunday, May 5. It
looks like their advertising is still an open discussion item, as you
will see below. TIA, ladies. :)
. . . . .

Here are the verbal comments, first from Monique:

>> 1. That we use Flex (Arville and Charleston) as the venue for our Tuesday

>AGREE, after Milano's.

>> 3. That we attend LaFemme, earlier show, (MGM Grand) on Thursday

>AGREE, let's keep the Limo thing going though for Thursday nite.

>I'm
>willing to volunteer on collecting $$'s, going to the box office to
>get the tickets, etc., but only onsite at DLV. I'll be arriving at DLV
>early and will make myself available as needed. Final logistics needs
>to be worked out, but I volunteer.

Thanks, Monique! This is one item that will be truly appreciated.

>> 4. That we attend La Cage (Frank Marino, Riviera) as the feature

>AGREE. Logistics work out is needed here so we can get the max number
>of girls out to this venue.

One of my reasons for suggesting this flip-flop is that it's much easier
to do tickets separately and still sit together for La Cage. They have
two classes of seats, regular and VIP. VIP are in front, regular are in
back, both are quite cozy. :)

Anyway, history has shown that if you book the VIP tickets separately,
but you are all on time and on line together (hopefully toward the
front) you will be seated together. We'll need to be sure everybody
knows where to meet, and do some admonitions about being there on time,
and things will work out.

They can get their tickets early by phone, or even stop in person the
week of DLV. La Cage does sell out, but usually not until the day of the
show.

>> 5. That we use Flex as the venue for the Sunday farewell gathering. Yes,

>ABSTAIN, for I have to depart on Sunday

We'll be sure that you miss your flight. :)
. . . . .

And now from our resident comedienne and comic artist, who will be
appearing at the Improv during the DLV week:

>>1. That we use Flex (Arville and Charleston) as the venue for our

>It's been a long time since I did the Charleston, but I'll give
>it a try.

>>2. That we use Hamburger Mary's (Paradise and Harmon) as the venue for
>>our Welcome Celebration, including dinner. Everybody on one's own for
>>$$$, ordering off the regular menu, and for drinks, of course.

>I think it would be better if you bought the drinks, but other than
>that it sounds OK.

>>4. That we attend La Cage (Frank Marino, Riviera) as the feature

>That also sounds good, and not totally unfamiliar. The only problem
>I've seen is that some people have had trouble figuring out where to
>buy the tickets, so maybe somone could hang around and point the way to
>the ticket window.

Good point. I guess since I'm on the list to coordinate this one, I
am probably gonna be the one who stands there and directs traffic.

Last time (DLV2k) I remember we had said we would meet at the bar around
the corner from the box office, but Deb and I were the only ones there.

I'll be sure to include instructions on where the box office is in the
Riviera. I remember in 2000 I started to explain how to find it to
somebody, and I ended up saying to just ask the security guy where the
box office is and I don't think she liked that as a suggestion. :) :)

>>5. That we use Flex as the venue for the Sunday farewell gathering. Yes,

>I'm Flexible on that.

{groan ... barf}

>Sorry about the bad jokes

Not as sorry as we are. :) {ducking and running}

The one point you make is that DLV is quite unique, and those who are
not in contact (via mailing list and/or web) probably do not have a
clear idea of what DLV is all about. (Some people on the list obviously
don't have any idea either, but that's a story for a long rainy
Thursday. :)

SO's luncheon:

So far we have received three affirmative responses and one decline
toward this. No specific comments on it have been received.

Mindy, what timeslot would work for this? (Pick one. :)

We can call for a headcount on this just shortly before show time. In
2000, we had a SO luncheon on the calendar, 8 (I think) said they would
be present, but nobody showed up.

Hopefully this one will get a better turnout.

Flex and advertising:

>>Any comments about this, gang?

Hmmmm ... I don't remember the lack of tip at all.

More advertising:

>Just a quick comment here, regarding publicity. Some of the locals
>might not want any publicity that night, not to draw attention to
>what they're doing that night. Just a thought, anyway.

The way I envision this happening, any publicity would be limited to
the GLBT media, which is read almost exclusively by those who have an
interest. I really don't see something like this doing something like
tipping off cow-orkers as to what somebody is doing on their day off,
for example.

Comments?

Which some would consider a good thing, and others might consider a bad
thing. Also it might attract some t* people who have not heard of us.

>Not a bad tradeoff.....lol

Comments, gang? Personally, I'm mixed with regard to local publicity.

Golf list:

I'm going to forward the last part of Mindy's note to the golf list to
hopefully get some conversation going there. I will copy it to the
main DLV mailing on Sunday in case there are new people who want in
on it.

Before DLV:

>Are you planning to arrive in LV a day or so before DLV, like you did
>last year, and have a sorta informal pre-pre-pre DLV get together?

Well, it looks like I'm gonna arrive in LV Sunday evening. I haven't
really thought of a pre-pre-DLV or pre-pre-pre-DLV thing but if there
are people there, I supposed it could happen.

>If so, please let me know. I am planning to arrive there a day
>earlier, like last year, arriving that morning from a red-eye flight.
>Its basically a day to rest and prep, and to get rid of jet lag. There
>is a good chance my room wouldn't be ready till the afternoon (hotel
>offically states : after 3pm) but last year the room was ready when I
>got in, which was 11am. So Yvonne may or may not have time to get
>ready.

I know there will be others arriving early as well, some have mentioned
it here, others have off line.

If somebody wants to plan something, I'm all for it. Really, we don't
need to have something formal, the Keys thing last year was very much
on the spur of the moment.

>I again apologize for last year, for not being in my room when you
>first called.

No apology necessary. We can't expect every attractive young lady to
sit around just waiting for the phone to ring, can we? :)

>I was glad that I was finally able to reach you, and went out for a
>easy evening at Keys.... there was another person also ... can't
>recall the name that was with us.... was it Allison?

That was Alice from South America. I don't know if she is gonna be
with us or not this year.
