This mailing:

Sorry about the length of this. I had a smaller mailing all ready to go
this morning, but when I woke up a bunch more had come in ...

I know we're still two months out from show time, but we need to wrap up
a few items, mostly regarding scheduling and planning.

We have some more comments in this mailing, but we should be wrapping
up discussion and making some definite plans on:

1. Pre-DLV gathering Tuesday evening, venue.

2. Welcome dinner and get-together, Wednesday evening, venue(s).

3. Show for Thursday, La Cage or LaFemme.

4. Show for Saturday, La Cage or LaFemme.

5. Farewell get-together, venue.

If anybody has any discussion, comments, or concerns regarding any of the
above, (or, if you think the discussion should be extended :) please say
so. Thanks, gang.

Big Sister alert:

Some of the newest registrations that have come in have had comments to
the effect of that it will be their first time, will not know anybody,
very nervous, etc. I've tried to catch all of these and send them a note
that Big Sisters are available, either before DLV via e-mail or during
the event.

No actual Big Sister requests have come in (yet) but I wanna give
everybody a heads up that they may be coming shortly.

Very true, both for hotel and air. Rates seldom go down, and often go
up, sharply, as the date approaches.

Flex:

Hmmmm .... We've never had this come up before. I dunno about
advertising or local promotion. Hmmmm .... Lemme spew out some random
thoughts for a while.

Advertising to what end? To get local t* people to their bar? To get
more general people to the bar? To get more DLV people to the bar?

Let's be sure that before they go spending any $$$ on advertising, they
know that we're a relatively small and loosely organized group.

Any comments about this, gang?

(related subject) There may be some intellectual property issues
regarding the name "Diva Las Vegas" and I don't exactly want Bette
Midler's goons knocking on my door at 0-dark-30. When I informally asked
my attorney (knows who I am and knows what DLV is) about this, he said
(informally, off the clock, not legal advice) that we are at low risk
for any action if we do not use the name commercially. Advertising
in this manner may cross that boundary. Comments?

>I sent him to your website and email so he should be contacting you.

>He also mentioned maybe doing something special on the nights that DLV

>be as helpful at this as I can.

Yes, I'm impressed with the amount of interest too. Did you tell them
realistically what our size is and what our bar hours would be?

With that interest, I think we're stupid to not take them up on their
hospitality.

Looking at the schedule, I see the following opportunities to work Flex
into the agenda ...

1. Pre-DLV gathering, Tuesday evening. This will be our smallest bar
crowd. We've mentioned Flex as a possibility for this, and in one of the
last mailings, somebody suggested ICON (nee Angles/Lace) for this.

2. Farewell get-together, Sunday evening. This will probably have far
more bodies than the Pre-DLV thing, but historically many of the people
have left during the day on Sunday, especially the weekenders.

3. Welcome reception, Wednesday evening, assuming neither Hamburger
Marys and/or Boardwalk work out for this.

4. As a second-track activity for Saturday after the show, for those
who do not wanna go to RHPS. Also, for after-RHPS partying, for those
who are still alive.

5. For a default after-hours gathering place, kinda like Keys and LVL
have been at various times.

We should probably start to make some decisions on some of these
schedule and venue items, since we're now 2+ months out from show time.

Personally, I like the idea of using Flex for either the Pre-DLV thing
and/or the farewell thing.

Sunday would probably be the most appropriate day, I mentioned Saturday
just because that will mean more bodies present, but according to the
registrations that have come in so far, there will be many staying thru
Sunday.

I'm gonna go ahead and pencil this in for Sunday afternoon.

>Can't wait

Me too. :)

A reminder to everybody, binary file attachments do the various addresses

Attachments (photos, word .doc files, etc.) will be truncated and
mangled to the point they are not recoverable.

Ok, thanks. Looks like we will most likely be covered well for those
needing rides at the Sahara.

I guess I better update the update on the web, then. :)

Please let us know. As you know, all evenings are now planned with one
feature activity, but something like this might be a good second track
item, say, for those not going to the show/limo on Thursday.

Those rates sound very good.

If you can get this finalized this week, we can get a notice out in the
mailing Sunday morning. Please include the 800 number, who to ask for,
and what to ask for.

Thanks, I think with those rates you will see some bookings.

Ladies (gentlemen) which is it? Personally, I'm leaning toward the
idea of Thursday for LaFemme and Saturday for La Cage, but I'm not
everybody. Comments?

>limo tour.. met with aiko tonight.. and discussed some possable plans..

Comments? I remember last year we discussed maybe having a bar stop or
a bar dropoff, but those didn't happen. I seem to remember those on
the ride just preferred to get trashed in the limo rather than stop
at a bar to get trashed. :)

>re last years late limo problem..

>wont happen this year.. *LOL*.. i have done biz with several limo
>companies and they know i can be a bitch if it dont go by the plan.

Hmmm ... I don't remember the limo being late last year. Tina? I seem to
remember leaving the show, taking a break in the ladies room, finding
the group, and then walking out to it.

>well a misfortune is a blessing.. my sweetie diane lost her job so she

The best thing to do would be to print out the latest FAQ list at
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2002/2002faq.html and have it handy by
the phone, as it answers (or tries to answer) over 90% of the questions
that come in via e-mail.

Most frequent question: How many are coming, and the best answer would
be to use the numbers on the latest Sunday mailing at the time.

>also tell people that if they call and get the answering machine please
>leave a message even if it is just to say it is a diva call and they
>will try later.. we hate the beep beep beep messages. also if they
>leave a message and want a call back it will be collect.. hours she
>will accept calls are 9 am to 10 pm PST.

We will need the number, also.

I think it is best that we give out the number on a case by case basis.
Once a number is posted on the web, it will live forever, so it's
probably best to give it out as needed. I don't anticipate much phone
traffic at all prior to DLV, but occasionally it is needed.

It may be handy to have a local number available for people to use just
to check signals. We've been publishing cell phone numbers, but unless
people know how to use inbound roaming ports, it's always a toll call.

If we could give your number as well, it might be helpful.

>golf.. i dont know if golf list auto forwards to me.. but i am needing
>feed back..

Golf list is ready to go. Just send what you want to say to the address
dlvgofl@geekbabe.com and it will be exploded to the list.

Ok, just write this up again, add what you want, and send it to
dlvgolf@geekbabe.com and it will be sent out.

>also time for prize donations or pledges.. they do not need to be

Actually, we could probably use those last two thoughts on the general
DLV list, to generate some interest in golf.
