Happy Holidays:

This will be the last regular mailing of the DLV 2001 organizational
list. If necessary, we'll have one summary mailing, but most everything
sent here from now on will be held for the regular DLV 2001 mailing list
after the first of the year.

Event coordinators:

Tina writes:

>Re event coordinators, I know that I have suggested several events, but

>currently have me marked down for?

Well, I haven't really made a list yet. Guess I should start. :)

Since you asked, I would be tickled pink if you would take on the
Folies show, and also the Sunday limo thing.

I also kinda assumed you would lead, or rather babysit, some of the
things like dancing Friday and barhopping Saturday after RHPS.

>Re pre-DLV Big Sisters to answer questions by e-mail and by phone, I
>would be willing to be one.

Ok, we got you on the list for that. :)

>Happy Thanksgiving,

... and same to you, yours, and everybody. :)

Thursday suggestions:

>I notice that we don't have a shopping trip actually pencilled in
>anywhere on the schedule.

True, however, I'm planning a combined shopping and casino hopping thing
for Saturday afternoon, but that will be concentrating on such things as
the shops at Aladdin, Caesars, Paris, and the like.

>My suggestion would be to have a VERY early dinner (like 4 PM) followed
>by an early evening shopping trip from say 6 PM - 9 PM. We could hit
>some stores that would specialize in bigger sizes (example: Rose of
>Sharon for clothes).

Ok, we'll get that on the schedule. I dunno if Rose stays open in the
evening, but I'm sure some places do. Another one that's been highly
recommended is DuBarry over on Decatur.

>I don't know where we could go for larger shoe sizes. Maybe the local
>LV girls could make a suggestion?

Well, the one that comes immediately to mind is NYC Shoes, but I don't
know what their attitude or selection has been lately. Anybody know?

>Then, when the stores close, we simply proceed on to Keys, per the
>current schedule.

Sounds like a plan to me. :)

>Or, to turn things around a little, we could start shopping at 4 PM
>(maybe at Serge's Wigs), then hit a jewelry store, and finish up with
>clothes and shoes.

Serge's and Rose of Sharon are not too far apart. This might be an
option if either/both are not open in the evening.

>Then, we could proceed on to a later dinner around 8
>or 9 PM. (If Keys serves dinner, we could just go have dinner at Keys
>and already be in position for the evening's entertainment.)

Well, if Keys does not serve dinner, there are thousands of places both
in and away from that neighborhood that do. We had a group go to the
Tony Roma's right up the street from Keys once, no problems at all, plus
there are infinite other options (just try getting the whole group to
agree on one <semi grin>).

>With either approach, there is the fashion challenge of dressing for day
>to evening. That's one of the reasons I like going to DLV. It has more
>fashion challenges (from daytime casual activities to night-time formal
>and/or flashy) that I just don't have to address for the single evenings
>out I usually do at home. Unless you're dressing 24 x 7 in your
>every-day life, you just don't get these constant fashion challenges
>anywhere else, except for gender conferences. That's why I like DLV:
>all the challenges and fun, but none of the boring meetings. :-)

Well, if people insist, I suppose we could arrange one of those
electrolysis lectures. :) :)

But seriously, yes, DLV does offer several "fashion challenges" and,
imao, many that don't exist at t* conventions. Everybody will get some
real-world experience on what attire is appropriate to what event. Many
of our people have never done casual-femme before coming to DLV. (And
some will not do so, opting for dressy-femme or boymode.) Also there's
the challenge of real-world time constraints. Putting yourself together
multiple times a day, each instance to be appropriate for the event at
hand.

>I would also love to hear suggestions (shopping or otherwise) for
>Thursday afternoon/evening from some of the other girls on the DLV list.

Our referrals:

I would like to share with you one day's referral list from the web
logs. All these (and some others) have been providing referrals to
us, and it's not even the first of 2001 yet.

This is by far the most significant web exposure we've seen over the
history of DLV.

If you know any of these people or organizations personally, please
say thanks. (Thanks, Stephanie. :)

Makeovers:

>>On a related note, there are a few "must do" things we have to find
>>places for. Golfers, please be thinking of what days/times would work
-----8<-----

>What about makeovers? Did you forget.

Nope. :)

>Is Mary Kay on for this year?

Last I heard, yes, they (Ronnie and Beth) were ready to go for another
Open House and makeover session for DLV 2001.

>As you
>know, I missed it last year, but I would kind of like to do that
>this year/ What time would it be?

No decision yet. It will depend on what they have open and how that fits
in our schedule. Looking ahead, I would say most likely some afternoon
toward the beginning of DLV. Thursday afternoon is so far wide open (the
first part, at least -- good thing I proofread this), but this might not
have the optimum number of people yet. On Friday or Saturday it could be
a second-track option.

This is one activity we will most likely fit into place in the schedule
shortly before DLV, but unless something unexpected occurs, yes, it will
happen.
