Goings on:
Not much feedback this week, but many thing happening.
In Las Vegas news, the El Rancho is dust ... Ka-BOOOOOM ... 0230 on
October 3. Yet Another New Casino-Hotel<tm> to be built there Real
Soon Now.
Kenny Kerr still has not announced a new venue, but it looks like wheels
are turning, despite a legal setback for Kenny. (See note below.)
In DLV news, one of our people is apparently now connected with a travel
agency and promises good rates on hotels and air. I wrote back to her
telling what our people have paid typically in the past and asked her
for an example of prices to expect, giving her a sample itinerary. My
bottom line was that the bottom line is the bottom line. (Hey, DLV
people tend to be frugal.)
We'll see how this one works out.
As some of you know, we've had two things with travel agents that have
not worked out. One simply could not get good prices (hey, the bottom
line is the bottom line) and the other did not seem to know what ARC
and IATA numbers were. :)
As you also know, the people from Hawaii got some of our people some
very good hotel rates last year, so hopefully there will be at least
one deal along this line this next year.
Details as they emerge.
I've plugged in a couple items suggested from the main list to the
schedule, with the asterisks as tentive, of course. These include a
Dance Night on Friday following the welcome thing, and a side trip to
Rhyolite on Monday afternoon. Comments?
Still plenty of timeslots left, especially during the day on Thursday
and Friday. (Hint!) :)

I'm hoping our schedule will encourage a greater crowd at RHPS this
coming year.
I dunno if anybody is gonna make it to the RHPS 25th. anniversary bash
in Las Vegas this week, but it sounds like a real blast. If I were not
already committed to FH this coming weekend, I would certainly be there.
As an aside, last weekend I got to see the Barely Legal RHPS performance
in Oakland. If anybody gets to the Bay Area, this is worth the trip to
see. It's at the Parkway Theater on Park between 18th and 19th. It's a
very screen-accurate presentation with a very entertaining pre-show. (We
watched Tammy get de-virginized on stage.) Theater has couches and
lounge chairs instead of regular theater seats, so the atmosphere is
very relaxed and roomy.
