>damm girl it was a great party and i wish i had more time to join in..

Hey, just phone in sick. :)
Seriously, I know somebody who did that for FH 1997.
>1st thing.. *great big hug* for the great job you did on the party you
>are a living doll for all you did.. not only did you set up a fun time
>but you seemed to have fun too.. and girl that is hard..
You're very welcome.
Actually (I keep saying this, nobody believes me) all I really do is a
lot of cheerleading thru the year to get everybody in more or less the
same place at the same time. It kinda takes off by itself after that.
The last thing I wanna do on my vacation is run a convention. (Been
there, done that, burned out to the max.) I find I have plenty of time
to enjoy DLV.
>so glad i got

With the model we have for DLV, it's usually no problem for somebody to
join in at the last minute. Every year we've had people join us with
very little notice.

I agree 110%. We had a great group of people and everybody was easy-
going and very congenial.

We've heard nothing but good things about Serge's (both the regular
store and the outlet) and Vegas Girl Wigs. We do provide these places
with a significant portion of their business. It's my theory that any
wig shop that is not t-friendly will soon go out of business.

>DLV2000 was a great time. It's a wonderful way to pry open the closet

The best thing about DLV is the quality of people it attracts. I've
noticed this for four years straight. Each and every one of you are
a credit to yourself, the community, and humanity in general!
>Hey, is it May of 2001 yet?!? I'm ready to go again!!
Uh, not for a while. I guess we could turn on that "Days 'till DLV"
counter on the web page and mailings again. :)

>The room I had at this rate had a king size bed, couch, whirlpool
>bathtub, refrigerator and was quite nice.
I might add that I agree with most of this. Last year, that suite I
had cost me $23 per night, really. It originally was "casino rate"
(rate they give players club members) for a motor inn room, but due
to several screwups, I got it upgraded at checkin.
However (comma) this year it didn't work very well. At the Stardust they
offered me two nights comp (free) and the rest casino rate, but for two
nights in the week before DLV, they were so heavily booked that they
could not guarantee me anything at any price. :( They even said that
normally when a cold-call to the desk shows sold out, a players club
member can often get a room, but they *were* solidly booked those
nights.
Almost the reverse situation over at the Riviera. They could give me
casino rate for every night but the last two. Those would be at some
ungodly rate, as they had a large group checking in on Monday. :(
I settled for the Sahara (same general area, and nice but not
extravagant) for the "LA Times rate" of $39 on weekdays and $59 on
weekends. I had intended to join their players club, but kinda
spaced it off.
>After a while the points do accumulate and you can get trade the point
>in for buffet tickets, show tickets, etc. Something to look into anyway.
I should add that if you're a privacy advocate, the players clubs do
track your gaming when you use your card. On machine games, they keep
track of your total coins in and time played. On table games (if you
have the dealer swipe your card) they record your average bet and the
time at the table, sometimes accurately, sometimes not.
Help, I'm typing and I can't shut up! :)

[munch]
>That sure looks like fun. Can you tell me how many girls are going?
It will be much larger than DLV. Headcount will be in the hundreds.
There will most likely be a handful there who have also come to DLV.
>Also, how do you dress for it? Girl-mode all the time I take it.
Most people do, but some do boymode some of the time or all of the time.
From past experience, you will see less casual and more dressy attire at
FH than at DLV. There will be one or two big dress-up evenings for sure.
>How is it different from Diva?
First of all, where DLV is a vacation, Fall Harvest is a convention.
It has more structure, and seminars, a vendor hall, entertainment,
and planned activities.
Fall Harvest is sponsored by MAGGIE (Midwest Area Gender {mumble mumble
mumble}) and is one of several similar events (Southern Comfort,
Colorado Goldrush, etc.) that are basically clones each other. They
say if you fell asleep at Fall Harvest and woke up at Southern
Comfort, all you would notice is the accent. <vbfg>
FH rotates among the host cities of MAGGIE, so it's not always in the
same place. This year is, of course, St. Louis.
Although many of the people will come from the immediate area of the
host city, we do get people from all over. Seems like we always see
people from Florida and California at FH.
I would say that FH is somewhat "safer" for somebody just coming out of
the closet, but those who are out and about seldom report boredom. For
the past several years there have been a number of side trips, to get
people out of the hotel complex.
>I take it there' no gambling.
Au contraire! St. Louis has riverboat gaming, and I will be very
surprised if some people don't wander down to the waterfront. :)
When we had it in Omaha in 1997 (on the Iowa side we have both
riverboat and landlocked gaming) a number of people went over to
the casinos, which were about a 5 minute drive from the host hotel.
Nobody reported any problems at all.
In 1998, in Minneapolis, one of the local Native casinos in Shakopee
was on their recommended vendor list.
Oh, one last note on this year's Fall Harvest. They say that they are
not accepting any registrations at the door this year, meaning you must
pre-register if you want to attend. I don't like this, but ...

Room safes:
>The safe in the Stratosphere room was free.
>It was kind of annoying in that it forgot your combination if you left
>the door open more than a few minutes, but that's better than the ones
>at Dr. Menard's hospital that forget your combination while they're
>closed.
That sounds like the ones they used to have in the older part of the
Stardust years ago, except those charged a few bucks to your room each
day it was used. The ones in the newer part of the Stardust are set
into the wall and lock with a Medico security key which you can take
with you.
