Announcements:
LAST CALL for the FINAL MAILING of the DLV 2002 E-mail Directory. Deadline
for inclusion is 6:00pm CDT Monday, that's tomorrow. This will be the last
mailing of the DLV 2002 E-mail directory.
. . . . .
Survey responses ... This mailing has the preliminary report of the DLV
2002 survey. The written comments will be posted in the next mailing.
Next mailing will also contain some items that came in within the past
day or so.
. . . . .
Moving forward ... We will be wrapping up and closing this list over the
next few weeks. We'll keep it open as long as feedback appears to be
coming in, but I expect to wrap it up by mid June at the latest. It's
been my pleasure to be your editor and moderator over the past year, and
I look forward to the anticipation of DLV 2003.
We're gonna try something just a bit different this coming year for
the mailing list(s). We will split this list into two parts, the
DLV-Announce list and the DLV-Discuss list. (Yes, we heard you when
you said this list was getting too verbose.)
The DLV-Announce list will replace this main DLV list, and the
DLV-Discuss list will be an option for those who want more of the
discussion angle of things.
Everybody who is currently signed up for this list will receive the
DLV-Announce list. The DLV-Announce list will be kept brief and will
consist only of announcements and information that you will need to
plan for and attend DLV, and very little discussion and digression.
The DLV 2003 Announce mailing list will begin July 1 and will consist
mainly of monthly summaries until the new year of 2003. From then on it
will switch to an as-needed schedule, most likely weekly or biweekly.
The DLV 2003 Discuss mailing list will begin around the new year,
earlier if there is a demand, and will be optional for those who want
to discuss and chat about the various goings-on regarding DLV.
You don't need to do anything to subscribe to the DLV 2003 Announce
list. You should receive a test message toward the end of June and
the first monthly summary around the first of July.
An announcement will be made when the DLV 2003 Discuss list becomes
active.

. . . . .
I saw no big surprises. One thing that kinda stumped me was that the
comfort rating for such out-in-public things as the Palace Station
buffet and the Mall Crawl were so high. Thinking some more, it's obvious
that those who would be uncomfortable in such settings are not going to
do them.
Again, thanks to everybody who took the survey!

Thanks for sending this in, Kate. Although this may have been a bit
embarrassing at the time, you will look back on it and laugh next year.
It's another chapter in the lore of DLV. This one is a keeper. :)

Thanks for the write-up, Ginger. I'm glad you had the great time you
did. Even though you're looking forward to DLV 2003 already, don't
forget to (one two three-and-four-a) live for today.
There are t* things happening in your part of the country, plus
<shamelessplug> there's Pinkfest coming up this October 18-20 in
Chicago. </shamelessplug>

Call For Volunteers continues:
We had a great response to our Call For Volunteers last week. I can tell
already that DLV 2003 is in good hands.
However, if we missed anybody, the call is still open.
To join the DLVORG group, simply send a brief e-mail message to
dlvorg@geekbabe.com and state you wish to volunteer. It may be helpful
if you include a sentence or two stating how you are most interested in
helping out. Anything general or specific ("I wanna plan a sky-diving
party", or "I'll help any way I can") is perfectly fine.
In the first part of June, the DLV 2003 organizational list will become
active and those who volunteered will receive a confirming e-mail and a
welcome message.
