Only 12 days left, gang!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Welcome:
I'm sending this out a day later than scheduled primarily due to the
frame relay outage, which left the systems here dark for the better part
of a day, to let any queued mail come in. If anybody sent anything in
and got a bounce or return, please resend. (For the geekbabes among us,
the problem was caused by a bad card in a fiber mux in a "hut" over by
the airport.)
From this point on, this list will be sent out on an as-needed basis.
We've had a number of new queries about DLV over the past few days. Time
is getting very tight, but there is still time to get in on things.
I would much rather get these inquiries two weeks BEFORE the big event
than two weeks after. :) Each year, like clockwork, we've had people
write in "if only I found out two weeks before ...".
If you just joined us, please read the back mailings (URL below) ask
any questions you may have, and get your travel and hotel reservations
in ASAP.
DLV happens less than two weeks from TODAY!

Last call for registration:
We'll be sending out the final large mailing (what Michelle calls the
War And Peace edition) early this next week. This will have some very
important things such as contact information, detailed schedule,
directions to each event, etc.
This final mailing will not be archived on line and will be sent only
to those who have registered.
If you have not registered and plan to attend, please visit the URL:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/register.html
Just fill out a few answers and you will be all set.

America West:
>Please print this in your newsletter as a warning to anybody who is
>flying America West. They've just cut the carry-on limit from two

Thanks. Coincidentally, that's who I'm booked on for DLV this year,
and they do have the lion's share of the east of the Rockies to Las
Vegas business. Guess I gotta pack tighter, huh?

Questions:
>I'm confused a bit. Can you give me some detail and more info on these
>items. I want to know what to expect. Thanks,
>>Thursday: 3:00pm Shopping, dinner, more shopping
>What kind of shopping? Do they know we are coming?
Exact shopping destinations will be determined by those doing the
shopping, but we're planning to visit a few specialty shops, then get
something to eat, then hit one or two malls, probably Belz and/or
Boulevard Mall.
>Will we be
>dressed for this?
Of course! We don't wanna get arrested for indecent exposure, do we?
<vbfg>
Seriously, dress according to your desire, style, and comfort level,
either boymode or girlmode. If you've never been shopping en femme and
want to try, this is your chance. If you need some things and are a bit
shy about going in girlmode, go in boymode and ask 1-2 of the ladies to
go with you and help you select some things.
If you plan to be trying things on, remember to select an outfit that
has a top that comes off easily.
>Are there any discount outlet malls and shops?
Yes, Belz is one of the large of this type in the country. We'll be sure
to hit this if there's any demand. If there's time (and demand), there
is another huge outlet mall about 1/2 hour south of the LV area.
>>Saturday: 12:00n Shopping and Hopping Start at Paris
>Again, what kind of shopping? Dressed? What's this all about?
We'll be exploring the casinos and shops in the center Strip area. As
for shopping, there's the Desert Passage Mall right by Aladdin, the
Forum Shops at Caesars, the casino shops at Paris, Bally's, Bellagio,
and all kinds of various smaller shops along the Strip.
Our guide will be able to point out particular shopping spots, as well
as answer questions and show the attractions in the area.
Go girlmode (with comfortable shoes) if you think you're ready for some
public exposure, boymode if you wish. It will be fun from either side of
life. :)
>>Monday: 10:00am Side trip - Rhyolite
>What is this?
It's a day trip to the (former) town of Rhyolite, Nevada. This is a true
ghost town, not a cheesy recreation with staged gunfights and gift
shops. We'll arrive just after noon, explore the ruins, and if there's
time, take the long way back thru the south end of Death Valley.
You can do this in boymode or girlmode (casual, comfortable, cool).
It's a nice get-away from Las Vegas.
