Kinky Boots is the name of a film, a book, and a stage musical, written and produced in that order, based loosely upon a real-life series of events regarding a very staid traditional shoe manufacturer whose failing business was saved by producing a line of, as the title implies, kinky boots for drag queen stage performers.

The book and stage script were penned by actor and playwright Harvey Fierstein. The lyrics and music for the stage production were written by Cyndi Lauper.

The musical opened in Chicago in the autumn of 2012 and moved to the Hirschfeld Theater on Broadway in April of 2013. A national touring cast was formed in 2014.

Kinky Boots is the winner of six TONY awards, countless other awards, and various box office records.
