First Time Admirer

Postby Airadventure » Tue Mar 08, 2011 1:55 am

I tell myself I am going to come every year and then it passes. Well, here I am again! We all have our own insecurities I guess. Mine would definitly be that I am a bit shy until I warm up, I'll definitly be a bit nervous, and I certainly wouldn't want to be the only admirer in attendance.
On average, how many admirers are in attendance? The website says that admirers are welcome, do you believe this to be true?

Many thanks to all, and have a great week!

Jeff,

First let me assure you that admirers are really-truly welcome! We've had admirers, both male and female, present at DLV since the very early years and with rare exception the experiences have been positive for all.

> I'll definitly be a bit nervous,

Please be assured that all of the "services" we offer to those who are unsure or nervous are available to you as an admirer as well. We're very much an equal-opportunity group! If you would feel more comfortable meeting one of our volunteers one-on-one before you attend a larger function, let us know, we'll make that happen. If you would feel better with someone going with you to your first activity, let us know.

> On average, how many admirers are in attendance?

We don't ask anyone to self-identify as an admirer when registering, so it's impossible to get an "admirer headcount" in advance of the event. You probably will not be the only one, but historically speaking the admirers present can be counted on one hand. This could be good news to you - less competition. :) :)

> The website says that admirers are welcome, do you believe this to be true?

Well, LOL, since I wrote that piece, I must believe it's true. :)

Seriously, I've been in attendance at DLV for all years and I can't think of any case of an admirer being unwelcome. As long as you act appropriately and don't come on like a Mack Truck, you should be well-accepted.

We're looking forward to having you with us. :)

We would love to have you join us for the golf outing Wednesday morning if you are a golfer (and especially if you are a bad golfer who likes to make side bets!! ) as well as attending the Wednesday night Frank Marino show with us. Be sure to look me up at the welcoming celebration on Monday evening. :)

IT IS BETTER TO LOOK GOOD THAN TO BE GOOD

If you use your driver on par three holes

If you simply cannot play golf with out your cell phone,
lipstick, mascara, nail file, and wine.

You are a Ptincess

Annie, Please let Jeff know that if he's at any of the activities we will be
at, and if he wishes he's more than welcome to hang out with Dennis until he
gets a little more relaxed around the girls. Dennis sometimes feels a little
lost among the crowd, especially when I'm being the "social butterfly" and can
use the company. Dennis has come a long way since his first DLV, which I
believe was '04 and he's become very comfortable being around some of the
girls. He does have his favorites! No, in all honestly he has learned to be
relaxed around us and enjoy our company and Jeff in time, I'm sure, will do
the same. Rosada

Uh, I think you just did! :)

You do bring up a point which I should clarify, regarding my previous note that the number of admirers will be in the single digits.

There will be several men there. Some of those will be friends, relatives, or SOs of our attendees. You'll find that our attendee base is quite diverse. You'll also see some female admirers as well.

Well, I have to say that I am impressed with the responses. Very kind and classy, and really makes me feel welcome already. Not much of a golfer but a Big Sister might be a good idea. I'll ponder all of that. What a nice group of people, many thanks!

Jeff,
There have been times during the long days of DLV that either an aversion to the razor or lack of time has kept me from participating in full Diva mode. On those days I've shown up for activities indistinguishable from an admirer and have had a wonderful time. While my goal is to let my girl out as much as possible, it's possible I'll end up there again sometime during the week. If it happens I look forward to opening doors, holding parcels or just visiting with the ladies who are in it for the long haul.

Jeff,
We haven't heard anything further from you. Are you still coming to DLV?
