Anyone also at the Red Roof

Postby debbiebrown » Thu Sep 24, 2015 4:23 pm

Hi,

I am booked in at the Red Roof for the week and was wondering if anyone else is staying there?

My first ever visit to Chicago so looking to make friends to go around with.

I've stayed there in the past, but not this year. I'm about 7 blocks west of you this year.

It's a very congenial group. You will be among friends! :)

Hi Deb.
I am glad to hear you are going to be at Pinkfest. I will be attending also for the first time. I'm only 4 hours away from Chicago but haven't been there in a few years.
I am staying at the Best Western River North. I think that is about 6 blocks from Red Roof Inn. I will be driving in but not using my car much as I would rather not drive around Chicago too much.
See you in a few weeks.

They are about 1/2 of a mile apart. It's a very easy walk, I've done that path many times. RRI is at Ontario and St. Clair and the BWRN is at Ohio and La Salle.

This will be my 15th. Pinkfest and I've had a car twice. Once I drove (I live about 500 miles west) and once I rented a car. The car can be handy, but I've found that I enjoy Pinkfest better without one. Just about everything on the schedule this year is very easy to get to via subway/El, which many Pinkfest people have taken without any issues, plus the occasional bus or taxi.

Hi Bev,

Glad to see you will be there maybe we can arrange taxis together etc.

The one I am staying at is the Red Roof Downtown Magnificent Mile, 162 East Ontario Street.

Can anyone advise, the first evening at the downtown bar looks like it is a 10 minute walk from the red roof, is it safe to walk at night in the area as a single girl?

Would anyone like to meet up for dinner before hand or is there anything happening?

Thanks
Debbie

I would say 10 minutes if you walk at a leisurely pace. :)

In the evening (7-8pm) it should be perfectly safe. I've walked all around that area after dark, alone, many times. If you're a bit uneasy of the walk back later at night, it's very easy to get a taxi out on State St.

I think you are in a pretty safe area.

I had thought about the Red Roof Inn but found a good deal at the Best
Western. I do not get in until Thursday afternoon. But I'm sure we will
carpool or meet up several times during the weekend.

I am looking forward to seeing you again.
