Thursday (was Re: VERY preliminary schedule ...)

Postby Valerie » Thu Aug 20, 2015 10:46 pm

Blood Brothers has a running time of 2:45. No way Big Chicks can be an event just one hour later.

I don't drink, so I'm struggling with Thursday. Lunch and the play look great. Leather and wine don't hold my interest.

Was the plan that Big Chicks and Blood Brother were two separate options? Was the plan that Wine Tasting would cover dinner?

I definitely like the idea of an architecture cruise on either Saturday or Sunday afternoon, preferably Saturday.

I also support the afternoon plays at the Shakespeare Theater, preferably The Tempest, and preferably on Sunday.

There are a few options for dinner. If you do not go to the wine
tasting, there is an option to have dinner at the Theo Ubique theater
prior to the play. Dinner at Theo Ubique is $25 for a three course meal
served 90 to 30 minutes prior to curtain time. However, some of us
wanted to go to the wine tasting and it is not possible to do both. They
are about six blocks apart.

The two dining options by Taste Food & Wine are the R Public House next
door and the Luzzat restaurant across the street. Luzzat is an Indian
restaurant that does not have a liquor license so folks often buy wine
or beer at Taste Food & Wine and take it across the street for dinner.
Phoebe suggested Luzzat as a possible dinner option. Phoebe also
suggested that we could order pizza at R Public House and bring it over
to her shop during the wine tasting. The last option is getting food at
Big Chicks which has a kitchen open until about 11:45 pm.

Thursday is awkward I admit. If you have (or anyone has) ideas for tweaking it, please say so.

The day was really planned around the Wine Tasting and Blood Brothers.

Big Chicks was intended as a social activity for those who don't want to do the play, as well as an after-play gathering spot.

I didn't know the play ran that long. Seems very long for an off-off-Broadway type of performance.

I'm mentally juggling plans, particularly food times, for Thursday. I know I don't want to do the wine tasting on an empty stomach and I know I won't want to wait until after the play (if it indeed runs that long) to eat. That may very well put us at Big Chicks after kitchen close time.

I'm not into leather, but I would definitely attend the exhibit. It's something different. :)

The venue, despite the name, does not have true food service. There was talk of bringing in something like pizza and/or munchies.

Saturday afternoon is incomplete and wide open. That would fit very well in there.

Again, Sunday is very tentative. Navy Pier was kind of a catch-all fill-in. Something else could easily be added or substituted.

If there is anyone else who'd prefer to do the dinner at Theo Ublique instead of wine tasting, perhaps we could get a group together. I certainly don't mean to pull people away from the wine tasting, rather I'm suggesting an alternative for anyone who might not have planned to go anyway.

I think dinner at the Theo Ubique is a really good idea. If not for Phoebe's wine shop I would be up for that. I am probably going to get food at the R Public House and go to the wine tasting prior to the play.
