Welcome - Dates for Diva Las Vegas 2024:

First of all, welcome to those who just joined our mailing list. If you
have any questions or concerns, please ask. Just reply to this mailing.
. . . . .

The DLV Volunteer Group has just decided, by consensus, to hold Diva Las
Vegas 2024 beginning on Sunday, September 29, and continuing through
Friday, October 4, inclusive.

These dates have been marked as tentative on our web site and our
customary one-month Call For Comments is now in effect, to conclude
Thursday, March 14.

Comments may be made by simply replying to this mailing or by posting
on the DLV Discussion Forum at:

https://divalas.vegas/dlv/mydlv/mainforum/index.php

Please do not make any non-reversible arrangements (non-refundable air
fare, hotel rooms, etc.) until the dates are considered final.

It should be noted that only once in our soon-to-be 26 year history was
an event rescheduled due to issues uncovered during the Call For
Comments period.

Please join us in thanking our volunteers for a very smooth date
selection process this year!

Looking forward to DLV 2024:

Although the planning has just begun for the 2024 event, there are some
principles which we have agreed upon.

One of those, driven by attendee comments during and following the 2023
event, is to try to make the event affordable for as many as possible.

We are not saying that we can't have such things as a dinner in a nice
steakhouse, a limousine tour, or a high-end show. What we are
committing to is that when higher-priced activities happen, there will
always be at least one affordable option in the same timeslot.

Our two major gatherings have tentatively been planned for Monday and
Thursday evenings of DLV Week, and we will be sure to use facilities
that have moderately-priced menu selections available.

During Sunday and Monday of DLV week, we will be emphasizing activities
of the "Get to know you" nature.

One afternoon and evening will most likely be centered around Downtown
Las Vegas, with alternate options happening in the mid-Strip area as
well.

Please watch these mailings for updates as things develop!

Things to come:

In recent years, the daily schedule of activities has begun to take
shape at about the 3 to 4 month out point, so you can expect to see some
preliminary copies of the working schedule beginning in June or so.

Registration for the big event is expected to begin around late June or
early July, and all who have attended in recent years can expect a
minimum-click re-registration process.

As always, there will be no charge to register.

Please watch these mailings for more details as they develop.

Heads up! Well-in-advance-notice:

Please read this very carefully, noting the items that are capitalized
for emphasis.

We are giving advance notice that one fairly significant change to our
program has been proposed.

When DLV was started in 1997, it happened in the spring. No particular
reason, it just occurred around a weekend that most of those who were
interested could make it.

By tradition, DLV occurred in the spring from that year forward until
2019.

When the Covid pandemic hit in 2020, we went through a series of
postponements, and the fall of 2021 was our first opportunity to have a
safe and meaningful event.

Since the pandemic, we have continued to hold our annual events in the
fall, and will continue to do so AT LEAST THROUGH the 2024 event.

Some of our volunteers have expressed a desire to revert to our
once-traditional spring schedule. If this is to happen, it will most
likely be by a vote of the volunteers of voting status.

THIS IS NOT A DONE DEAL!

At this time, this is in a preliminary discussion phase only.

NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE AS OF THIS TIME!

We have volunteers on record for reverting to a spring event and those
on record for continuing with a fall event. We also have volunteers who
are very neutral on this issue, wanting a place on the calendar that is
best for the program overall.

If such a change is to happen, the EARLIEST it could happen would be for
the 2025 annual event.

One of the most important factors we will be considering as we
contemplate this change are the wishes of attendees, both past attendees
and prospective attendees.

Please be prepared for some in-depth questioning and surveys on this
topic in person during DLV 2024 and immediately following.

Your comments are welcome, beginning now.

To comment, you may post your thoughts and feeling on the DLV Discussion
Forum, which is on line here:

https://divalas.vegas/dlv/mydlv/mainforum/index.php

Or simply reply to this mailing with your comments.

We will announce any significant items as soon as possible. Please do
not expect any binding decisions or anything significant until after the
2024 event has concluded.
