Welcome and updates:

Welcome to those who just registered or just joined our mailing list!

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. (If so, just
reply to this mailing.)
. . . . . . . . . .

Plans are proceeding nicely for our big event in late March and early
April. (March 31 - April 5) Big thanks go out to the DLV volunteers,
who are planning and implementing the various activities that will be
happening during DLV week.
. . . . . . . . . .
Headcounts:

The most frequently-asked question we get in the months and weeks
leading up to the annual big event is along the line of how many people
will be attending.

It's far too early for any kind of a semi-accurate headcount projection,
but all signs are pointing to a level of participation similar to that
we've seen in recent years, which is a total in the 130-ish to 140-ish
range.

As of Friday evening we have a total sign-up count of 75. Registrations
are coming in about one per day on average and registration will be open
for two more months.

We'll be giving updated registration numbers and estimated headcounts
in most of our general mailings between now and DLV.

DLV 2019 activity updates:

Our daily schedule is still in a state of flux, with changes happening
daily. As of this mailing, it's too early to publish a preliminary
working schedule.

However, here are some updates and highlights of some of the activities
that will be happening. (All subject to change at this early date.)

Our big Welcome Celebration will be happening on Monday at the Bahama
Breeze, where we've held this the past few years. This will include the
New Attendee Welcome and Orientation, followed by the New Attendee Meet
and Greet. Details of those appear below.
. . .

The wig ladies will be coming back, and there will be a get-together
that they will host(ess) on Tuesday afternoon.

Also on Tuesday, one of the evening options will be Pole Dance
Instruction, something that has not happened in recent years.
. . .

Golf will be happening on Wednesday this year. Stay tuned for final
announcements and details.

The Big Lift Bar Crawl, which was a big hit last year, will happen again
on Wednesday evening this year.
. . .
On Thursday we will have our Farewell Celebration, the second of the
major gatherings. Details of this are being worked out at this time and
will be announced when decisions have been made.
. . .

Daily morning coffee, daily lunch, daily happy hour options, and nightly
after-hours get-togethers will be happening on most days.

New for this year, hair and wig styling by Transition Hair will be
available both in-shop (convenient transportation available) and in your
hotel room. Watch for details as the event draws near.

Big Sister volunteers needed:

Delaney (Big Sister Coordinator) writes:

As you are registering for DLV, please consider also signing on a Big
Sister.

By volunteering, you assist a person who has often never attended DLV,
or has had a lesser degree of experience in public venues.

By assisting another, you may find your DLV experience more rewarding,
more meaningful.

Most Little Sisters do not require a major investment of time,
particularly after the first day or two.

Please consider helping - we run very tight on volunteers most years !!

You can sign up to be a Big Sister on the registration screens, or by
emailing: bigsister@divalas.vegas

Heads up! Deadline for group rates at Flamingo:

Thursday, February 28, is the deadline for booking rooms under the
special DLV 2019 rates at the Flamingo. This will be a hard-stop
cutoff, and assumes that our quota of rooms has not been exhausted as of
that time. Please do not procrastinate!

Details of our suggested hotels for DLV 2019, including explicit
instructions for booking under the special group rates, appears on line
here:

New Attendee Welcome and Orientation:

If this will be your first year at Diva Las Vegas, we very strongly
suggest that you make every effort to attend our New Attendee
Orientation, which will be held at 5:00pm on Monday of DLV week.

We encourage all who have never attended DLV before, especially those
who have been out many years and those familiar with other TG events, to
attend this session.

This will be an informal session between the new attendees and some of
the senior DLV volunteers. No, we're not going to lecture you! We'll
address any questions and concerns that you may have and we'll review
many of the things that will help you have a smoother and more enjoyable
event.

This will be in the same venue that will be used for our subsequent
opening evening festivities.

If you're just joining us this year, please plan to attend!

Since we want to spend this time with the new attendees, we ask that
participation be limited to first-year attendees, first-time returnees,
and Big-Little Sister pairs.

Everyone else can meet the new attendees at ... ... (keep reading!) :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
New Attendee Meet and Greet:

At 5:45pm on Monday, we invite everyone to join the new attendees for
an informal Meet And Greet session, just prior to the Happy Hour that
precedes our annual Welcome Celebration.

Please plan to attend, and to welcome the newcomers into the fold!

Liquid refreshments will be available, of course.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Things to come:

We're now just over two months out from the big event!

If you want to attend and have not taken any steps to do so, the first
thing you will need to do is register. You can do that on line here:

https://divalas.vegas/cgi-bin/dlv/aip.cgi

Another must-do (if you do not live locally) is to make your lodging and
transportation arrangements. It's never too early! Procrastinating on
these details means higher prices and fewer options!
. . . . . . . . . .

During the second full week in March, we'll start our Activity Sign-up
for DLV 2019. This is when you tell us which of several optional
activities you want to do.

Most of our activities are "no sign-up, just show up" in nature, meaning
that all you need to do to attend is to be a registered DLV attendee.

Some activities, however, require more planning and details and you will
need to sign up (and in some cases pre-pay) in advance if you want to
participate.

Details on these will appear on your Activity Sign-up Screen on your
Attendee Information Portal (that link you received when you registered)
at activity sign-up time.

Announcements and personal invitations will come out shortly before
Activity Sign-up begins.
. . . . .

On Thursday, March 28, 12:01am Pacific Time, DLV 2019 registration will
close. Activity sign-up will close, and all non-emergency email (which
includes routine questions about this year's event) will be held for
response until the event has concluded. This is a drop-dead cutoff!
. . . . .

Also on Thursday, March 28, our Final Attendee Information will be
rolled out. This will include (among other things):

* The Bare Minimum (a "quick-start guide" to DLV)
* Contact Information - Local contact numbers, Big Sister Hotline
* Maps And Schedules
* DLV Group Text and Activity Reminder information
* Late Notices - Changes - Updates
* New Attendee Welcome and Orientation information
* If you are feeling uneasy or uncertain
* Making contact, checking in, etc.
* Getting there and getting around
* Photography information and Guidelines
* What to do in case something is wrong
* Thanks!
* Things To Come and About Next Year

We will not be handing out any paper material such as maps and schedules
at the event. You will want to print out what you think you need and
bring it with you. There will be several versions of the main schedule
available for viewing on line and for printing.

When you get to the big event, you can check in at the On-Site Check-In
at the Flamingo on Sunday or Monday, or at any activity which is noted
"Check-in available" on the final detailed schedule.

If you get confused, get lost, etc., when you arrive, phone one of our
contact people (numbers included in Final Attendee Information) and we
will get you on the right track!
