Staging and viewing of received photos:

Big thanks to all who have already submitted photos! We have about 800
already received and more are known to be on the way.

We place our received photos in a special "staging" area on the web, to
allow those who attended to preview the photos and mark any which they
do not like for deletion, before they are placed on the current DLV 2017
follow-up pages.

Here's the way this works ...

Everyone who attended (and marked as present on the roster) will receive
a link to the photo staging area toward the beginning of this coming

This will allow you to view the photos and to mark any in which you
appear for deletion, if you do not like them. Any reason you have,
including "I just don't like the way I look in that photo" are valid
reasons for deletion.

Also. you will be able to "like" the photos you enjoy, to recommend that
they be placed on the final DLV 2017 follow-up pages.

Please be watching your inboxes for the staging area links. If you
attended DLV 2017 and do not receive this by next Wednesday at the very
latest, please let us know (email dlv@divalas.vegas) and we'll get
things straightened out.
. . . . .

Our Call For Photos continues and will remain open through the month of

Here are several ways you can submit the photos:

1. Re-visit your Attendee Information Portal. You will now see the
"Upload Photos" option. Click on the button and select the photos on
your computer to upload. With most browsers you can upload multiple
photos in one action.

1a. The same upload link has been added to the photo staging area this

2. E-mail. Simply attach your photos (any reasonable number to one or
more messages) and e-mail to: dlv@divalas.vegas

You can use a .zip, .tar, etc. file if you like, but it's not necessary.

3. FTP. If you wish to use this method, write in and we'll give you the
login credentials.

4. Snailmail. You can send prints, a CD/DVD, a USB stick, or whatever.
If you want to do this, write in, we'll send you the snailmail address.

As for size of the photos, the bigger the better, of course :) but the
default size coming out of most digital cameras is fine. To be of
meaningful size, they should be 500 pixels on the longer side at

If you don't know anything about pixels and .tar and .zip, don't worry,
just send them in! :)

Photos taken with a phone are fine as long as they are clear and crisp
and of the minimum size above.

As for quality and adjustments, we have automated batches that normalize
size, brightness, and contrast.

Most photos taken with a reasonable quality digital or film camera or
smart phone present very well. If sending in prints, plain ordinary drug
store mini-lab prints scan and present quite well.

Call For Volunteers:

First of all, we wish to thank all who worked on DLV 2017 for their
efforts in producing a very successful and highly-enjoyed event!

Diva Las Vegas runs entirely on volunteer help!

All of those great times you just had were made possible because
somebody stepped forward and made those activities happen!

During DLV, a number of you asked if there was anything you could do to
help out. Yes, there is, and now is the time to say so! :)

Planning and organization of DLV is done mostly on line via e-mail. It's
interactive and participatory. Volunteers form what we call the DLVORG

The DLVORG group is not at all closed or exclusive. With very rare
exception, it's open to anybody who expresses interest in helping out
with DLV.

DLVORG people participate at the decision-making level, the organizing
and planning level, and at the nuts-and-bolts level.

All of the activities were "adopted" by one or more of our volunteers,
who took the necessary steps to make them happen.

If you want to do your part to make a great thing even better, to give
back what DLV has given to you, and help to run an event that has
literally changed lives, please step forward!

(Those of you who filled out the volunteer form as part of the DLV
follow-up survey do not need to take any more action.)

To volunteer, please do one of the following:

Visit the URL:

Fill out the screen and check a few things, click SUBMIT, and
you're on your way!

Alternatively, simply send a brief e-mail message to:

. and state you wish to volunteer. (Or, just reply to this mailing
and state that you wish to volunteer.)

Please include a sentence or two stating how you are most interested in
helping out. Anything general or specific ("I wanna plan a sky-diving
party.", or "I'll help any way I can.") is perfectly fine. Anything from
one sentence to a book length manuscript will be ok. :)

We're not asking for any kind of a major time or effort commitment on
your part. All we ask is that each volunteer organize, or assist with
one activity. That's it.

If you're a bit shy, that's fine. We'll find something for you where you
don't have to go cold-calling vendors or anything like that.

And yes, out-of-the-box thinking is encouraged! As you know, we're not
limited to the things that traditionally happen at TG events, and we're
certainly not limited to those which have already happened at DLV.

Survey reminder:

While your memories of the event (hopefully all good) are fresh in your
mind, please take a few minutes to give us some very valuable evaluation
and feedback on this year's event.

If you've already taken our survey and wish to add more verbal comments
and suggestions, simply re-visit the survey link, scroll all the way to
the comment section, and submit an additional comment-only response.

This year's survey is briefer than those in past years. The section
where each activity is rated for "comfort" has been retired and replaced
with an optional fill-in block for comments on comfort at our
activities, or lack of same.

Please visit this url:

We truly appreciate everyone's attendance, participation, and feedback
on the event as a whole and the individual activities.

The survey should take about five minutes to complete.

Please take the survey only once, but with one exception. If you wish to
add (additional) textual comments in any of the comment spaces, please
re-visit the above URL, skip all of the checkboxes, and enter your new
additional comments, suggestions, etc.

If you attended as a couple or group, please have each person fill out
the survey individually.

If there are any questions or concerns about the survey, please let us

The survey will remain on line through April 30.

Thanks to all who participated in the DLV 2017 survey!

Missing in action:

Thanks to all who have responded to requests to confirm attendance. This
helps us keep our records in order and yes, also helps us get out the
links to the photo staging area.

If your name is on the list below, please give us the courtesy of a
quick reply as to whether or not you were actually present at DLV 2017.
Just hit reply and say "yes" or "no", and if you did not attend, you do
not have to explain anything.

Everyone else can help us out as well. If anyone here had any
first-person sightings, during our event, of any of the individuals
listed below, please let us know. Just reply to this mailing.

Likewise, if anyone knows ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY (not that you just did
not see them, please) that any of these did not attend, please let us

Thanks to all for helping us keep the records straight. :)

The Way-aay-ting is the Hard-est Part:

One "complaint" which was heard this year at DLV was along the line of
why do you only have this once per year!

For those who enjoyed DLV and want to do a similar event this fall,
you're in luck!

Pinkfest, our sister event, another "vacation, not a convention" is
tentatively planned to happen in Chicago from Tuesday September 26
through Sunday October 1. (Please do not make any non-refundable
arrangements until these dates are announced as final, which should be
very shortly.)

Like DLV, Pinkfest activities occur all over the Chicago area, using a
mixture of "mainstream" and "alternative" venues. If you've attended
DLV, you are bound to see some familiar faces at Pinkfest.

Please consider joining us for our 17th. annual Pinkfest. Further
information appears on line at:

We also have the Pinkfest Discussion Forum on line at:

You can join the Pinkfest mailing list for the latest news. Just e-mail
pinkfest@geekbabe.com and say that you want to join the Pinkfest mailing

Any questions about Pinkfest, just yell! :)

Hope to see you in Chicago this October!
