Only 29 days Until DLV 2011!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Welcome:

Welcome to those who just registered or joined the list. We're
looking forward to seeing you in person next month.

If you have not been reading our mailings, please take a few
minutes to "get up to speed" by reviewing the back issues on
line here:

viewforum.php?f=4

For those who are unsure or uneasy about joining us, please be
assured that we know where you're coming from and we'll do all
we can to make your DLV experience comfortable and rewarding.

Any questions or concerns, please let us know, the sooner the
better. :)
. . . . .

If anyone has written to DLV, expecting a response, and has
not received one, please send a reminder.

No, you're not being snubbed! E-mail is not a perfect medium
and humans make mistakes. We're now in our busy period and it
is very easy for something to be overlooked.
. . . . .

We are now less than one month away from the big event!

Activity sign-up starts shortly. See below.

In order to be sure you get in on the first round of activity
sign-up, you will need to be registered by Sunday, March 6th,
which is tomorrow! Even though we have one big uncertainty
(see below), we will be rolling out activity sign-up as soon
as it is possible.

If you haven't registered yet, you may register on line here.

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/registerdlv2011.html

There is no charge to register.

Welcome Celebration status:

As some of you may know, the Firefly Plaza, where we had our
Welcome Celebration last year and were to have it this year,
has closed with very short notice. This is apparently a
permanent closure, not directly related to the construction
at the Plaza.

Our plans are to have the Welcome Celebration on Monday with
a similar theme, but the location will be changed and the
timing may need to be adjusted.

Our volunteers are currently considering several options for
our Welcome Celebration, three of which appear to be promising,
but no decisions have been made. Conversation is ongoing and
one potential venue is to be contacted today.

As soon as plans are solid, we'll note it in the Discussion
Forum and in the next general mailing. Yes, unfortunately
this will cause a delay in activity sign-up. (see below)

This type of situation is actually not unknown to us. We've
had closures and other issues happen within days of DLV over
the years. In every case our volunteers have always been
able to work around the situation with successful results.

If anyone wishes to be involved in the re-planning of our
Welcome Celebration, please contact the DLVORG group
directly at: dlvorg@geekbabe.com

Activity sign-up:

Activity sign-up has been delayed due to the situation with our
Welcome Celebration.

We are planning to begin activity sign-up very shortly, but the
exact time it rolls out may not be known until very shortly
before it happens.

Watch those inboxes! :)

Unless there are extenuating circumstances, we anticipate the
activity sign-up process to begin within the next week.

Activity sign-up is where you tell us which of our optional
activities you would like to do.

Many of our activities require no sign-up or any formality at
all, other than the normal DLV registration. For these, all you
need to do is show up at the correct place and time.

For several of our activities, however, we will need such things
as sign-ups, headcounts, or even in some cases a prepayment.

The details of these activities are covered at activity sign-up
time, which is this coming week.
. . . . .

For those who are new, here's how our activity sign-up works:

Sometime during the next several days, everyone who holds a
registration for DLV 2011 can expect to receive their activity
sign-up mailing. This will contain a link to a personalized
activity sign-up screen.

Please be on the lookout for this. Depending on your roster
number, you should be seeing this between Monday and Thursday
of next week.

IF YOU HAVE REGISTERED FOR DLV 2011 AND DO NOT RECEIVE
YOUR ACTIVITY SIGN-UP MAILING BY THURSDAY OF THIS COMING
WEEK AT THE LATEST, SOMETHING IS WRONG AND WE NEED TO
KNOW ABOUT IT!

You can then select your optional activities by following the
link sent to you.

For most of the activities it's "first signed, first served"
but in some cases it's "first paid, first served", and for
those activities the sign-up screen will have the payment
information.

In most cases you can go back and change your selections. We
even have "place in line holding" for some activities which
may go into a waiting list state.

MyDLV members who are registered should see an "Activity Sign-up"
link appear on most main MyDLV screens sometime Monday. This can
be used in lieu of the link being distributed via e-mail.

If there are any questions or concerns about activity sign-up
please reply to this mailing and ask.

Activity updates:

There have been many additions to our schedule of activities
since our last general mailing.

Here are some highlights:

On Sunday, we'll have a "SO And Partners" Champagne Brunch in
the early afternoon.

Also on Sunday we'll feature Classic Rock N Roll with Bob and
Susan at our Alternative Common Gathering.

We have multiple opportunities for mainstream makeovers during
the week, including MAC on Monday and Thursday, Bare Escentuals
on Wednesday, and Macy's on Friday.

Our featured "high end" show this year will be Terry Fator, at
the Mirage, on Tuesday evening.

Also on Tuesday will be a special private guided tour at the
Erotic Heritage Museum. (With liberal dress code.)

Harmony Nail Spa hosts Gourmet Wine Tasting on Wednesday.

The members of crossdress.com will be hosting a social, open
to all DLV attendees, on Wednesday, keeping with DLV's heritage
of on-line participation.

Our featured "affordable show" will be Divas Las Vegas, with
Frank Marino on Wednesday evening.

Rounding out Wednesday will be "Sassy To Classy Nite", with a
Talent Show. Stay tuned for further details on how to perform
if you wish to do so.

On Thursday we'll feature dance lessons and open dancing at
Charlies, a club which we also plan to visit on our Alternative
Bar Crawl on Wednesday.

These are only a few of our many activities planned for DLV Week.

Please give a big hand (clap-clap-clap {whistle}) to this year's
DLV volunteers for a fantastic line-up of activities for DLV 2011!
