Only 64 days Until DLV 2011!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Welcome and updates:

Welcome to those who just joined or registered. If you have
any questions or concerns, please let us know.
. . . . .

Latest numbers:

Registration has been brisk over the past week or so.

Currently we have 144 attendees signed up, including 26 SOs.

It's still too soon for any kind of a reasonably accurate
total headcount estimate. Best guess is somewhere around or
slightly higher than the total we had last year of 179.
. . . . . . . . . .

From now on, all of our general mailings will include the
latest version of the working schedule.

Please keep in mind that this is a work in progress, and that
nothing on it can be considered to be "in stone" as of this
time. Although we do not plan for any of the major activities
to be changed in date/time, unforeseen circumstances may cause
this to happen.

It's also incomplete. Many activities which have been planned
do not yet have a timeslot, and others are still in the works.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
On the activity front:

Our two highly-successful major gatherings of 2010, Welcome
Celebration at Firefly on Monday and our Farewell Bash at Bahama
Breeze on Friday, will be repeated for 2011. Stay tuned for
further information.

Our Welcome Celebration on Monday will be followed by Karaoke
at the Beauty Bar, which was a big hit for 2010.

Golf will be happening on Wednesday of DLV week. See note on
a golf headcount below.

Another successful evening, Trevi followed by the Limo Tour,
will happen again on Thursday of DLV week.

And no, we haven't forgotten the Charles Bar! :)

Beginner Open House will happen Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
of DLV week. This will be in a private condominium and hosted
by a supportive GG. This is intended for those who are new to
public exposure, but all are welcome. Changing facilities will
be available here. Carpooling (at your own risk, of course)
will be coordinated from the Monday Beginner Open House to the
Welcome Celebration.

High Tea will be happening on Friday. See item below.

Many other exciting things, both familiar and new are on the
schedule or are being planned.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Headcounts needed:

Our activity coordinators would like a "show of hands" for
a few of our planned activities.

These are informal headcounts to confirm interest. This is
not a commitment to attend, nor is it a sign-up for the
various activities.
. . . . . . . . . .

First is Air Tours, tentatively scheduled for Monday of DLV
week. Small plane, covering the local area and possibly some
of the Grand Canyon. To participate, you must be willing to
get up in time to be at the airport (Henderson Executive) by
8:00am. Boymode or girlmode. Casual recommended.

Disclaimer: Participation in this activity is at your own
risk. This is not a "ride for hire".
. . . . .

Next is Golf, the Diva Las Vegas Invitational. Golfers of all
backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to participate.
This has been a feature activity of DLV since 2000.

Golf is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday morning and
afternoon of DLV week. You may play in boymode or girlmode,
but the custom at the DLV Invitational is to use the tees of
the gender you are presenting.
. . . . .

Next is English High Tea (Afternoon Tea), tentatively on for
Friday afternoon of DLV week. This will be held at the Four
Seasons and will include tea, English snacks, and certain
adult beverages will be available as an option. Daytime
dressy attire, with accessories such as hats, gloves, etc.,
encouraged for this activity.
. . . . .

If you are interested in participating in any of these three
activities, please let us know by doing one of the following:

1. Post a brief note on the DLV Discussion Forum either by
e-mailing dlvdisc@geekbabe.com or posting on the web at:

viewforum.php?f=2

Please use this method if you have any questions or concerns
about any of these three activities.

2. Simply reply to this mailing and say if you're interested.
Any questions, comments, or concerns received in such replies
will be forwarded to the DLV Discussion Forum and answers to
any questions will appear there.

Answering that you are interested is not a commitment to
attend, nor will it sign you up for the activities. It's
just a "show of hands" to gauge the level of interest.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Big Sister Volunteers needed:

Big Sisters are volunteer DLV veterans who are standing by to
help as needed, either prior to DLV, or during DLV.

Our Big Sister Program has, literally, changed lives!

If you're a returnee this year, please consider volunteering
as a Big Sister. You can volunteer by simply updating your
registration. Just follow the link that was sent to you when
you registered. If you have any difficulty with this, just
let us know and we'll get things on track for you.

Being a Big Sister does not have to be a high-maintenance
situation. As a Big Sister volunteer, you call the shots as
far as whether you're available before DLV, during DLV, or
both, and exactly what you are and are not willing to do
as a Big Sister.

If you are a returnee, please consider volunteering to be
a Big Sister and lending a hand to those just coming out.

If you have any questions or concerns about our Big Sister
Program, simply reply to this mailing.

Thanks to all who have helped make our Big Sister program
a success.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Various systems notes and issues:

If you ever send in any personally-written items to DLV and do
not receive some kind of response, please let us know. We do
try to respond as needed to all correspondence, but e-mail is
not perfect and neither are humans.

As we enter our "busy season", it's very possible that things
may accidentally get overlooked. Please remind us if you are
expecting an answer and do not receive one.
. . . . .

Some of you who entered updates or corrections to your DLV
2011 registration may have received a confirmation e-mail with
some wildly-incorrect information. The problem has been
identified and corrected. Please report any similar issue
should it happen to you.
. . . . .

For some MyDLV members, your "activity" (years attended and
such) was not properly set. For most users this has been fixed,
but for some, if the system did not get a "high confidence
match" between the username and/or e-mail and the DLV attendance
data. In this case we'll do a manual correction shortly.
. . . . .

If you don't receive any of the expected e-mails for such things
as registration, let us know. Issues like this are easy to trace
if we find out about them within a reasonable time.
. . . . .

It would be a good time for everyone to please give their PCs
a once-over to be sure that your systems are up to date and
that you're using a current anti-malware system. We're still
receiving quite a few e-mails, with some of your names as the
senders, which we know you would not want to be sent in your
names! This is also disclosing some of the contents of your
personal address books!

Thanks.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
What you need to do:

If you have not registered yet, The steps you need to take if
you want to attend can be summed up as follows:

1. Read the web site (http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/) to be
sure you know what Diva Las Vegas is, what it is not, and
if DLV is something you would want to attend.

The FAQ (http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/faq/) gives answers to
many frequently-asked and anticipated questions. Over 90% of
the questions we receive are already answered in the FAQ.
. . . . .

2. Review the important back mailings of this list. Archives
are on line at:

viewforum.php?f=4

Please be sure to review the following items in particular,
which are of significant importance:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1600

Also please review the "In A Nutshell" summary of our
behavior, dress, and restroom guidelines here:

. . . . .

3. Register for DLV. Use the following links to register.

Some important notes about registration:

Shortly after you register you will receive a confirmation
e-mail. This will usually get to you almost immediately after
you register. In the event you receive nothing via e-mail after
you register, something is wrong and we need to know about it.
Send a brief e-mail to: dlv@geekbabe.com if this should happen
to you.

Las Vegas Locals: Please register.

Yes, we know that you're almost-good-friends with the grave
shift assistant manager at one of our venues! :)

Please register! :)
. . . . .

4. Make your travel and/or hotel reservations, if necessary.
Information on our suggested hotels appears here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/2011hotels.html
. . . . .

5. Prepare to have some very good times with some very good
people!

Any questions or concerns, please let us know.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Things to come:

Here's a run-down of things that will be happening in the
next couple of months.

Activity sign-up:

After you register, the next big milestone on the road to DLV
2011 is activity sign-up.

This will begin on or about March 7. This is when you tell us
which of the optional activities you will be doing. Yes, this
occurs much sooner in the calendar year than it has in the
past! :)

Although many of our activities are presented on a "no sign-up,
just show up" basis, there are some which will require a
headcount, some kind of a hoop-jump (like the purchase of a
show ticket), and maybe even a prepayment.

On or about March 7, everybody who holds a confirmed
registration will receive a link to their own personal
activity sign-up screen. This will include a description
of each activity, including conditions and payment info,
and you can select which of the activities you will want
to do.

In most cases, you'll be able to change your mind freely if
you wish, and edit your selections at any time up to cut-off.
. . . . .

Large Final Mailing:

Just prior to DLV, all registered attendees will receive what
we call the Large Final Mailing.

Yes, this year we will again be passing out a hardcopy summary
schedule and DLV activity map, but this will only contain a
fraction of the information that you will need to make the most
of DLV.

The Large Final Mailing will include such things as:

. "Bare Minimum" section as a "quick-start" guide.
. Your personalized final confirmation and itinerary.
. Final detailed schedule, including activity locations.
. Behavior, dress and restroom guidelines.
. Late notices.
. Check-in instructions.
. Contact phone numbers.
. Big Sister Emergency Hotline number.
. Diva Las Vegas Photo Guidelines.
. Discounts and promotions.
. Link to detailed activity maps.
. . . . .

Arriving and checking in:

You can check in at any DLV activity which is marked "Check-in
available" on the final detailed schedule. Although most of
the checking-in will be done at the Sunday and Monday activities,
check-in will be available each day at the daily lunch and at
several other designated activities.

Don't worry, if the first activity you want to do does not have
check-in available, you will still be able to participate as
long as your name appears on the DLV roster. You may just have
to wait to get your name badge and such.
