Only 100 days left, gang!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Welcome newcomers:

Several new mailing list members and a number of registrations since the
last mailing. Welcome! Glad to have all of you with us. If there's
anything we can do, just yell.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Important registration notes:

We've had several cases of duplicate registrations. I caught one by
chance last Sunday, another came in on Tuesday, and I went back thru
the database manually and found still another.

Please, gang, if you have to change something on your registration,
use the url: http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/update.html

If you've forgotten your confirmation number (which is your "password"
to the update screen), or if you're not sure if you have registered
already, just write in to: dlv@geekbabe.com with the name and e-mail
address you used, and I'll look it up for you.

In all cases, I've let the most recent registration stand and deleted
any previous ones.

Thanks for your cooperation on this. :)

Official hotel comments:

>>>My vote is for the Sahara, Stayed there march 2000 with the pink kitties
[snip]
>>>I'm going to be at the Imperial Palace. Great location. Food
[clip]

>Since you've already got people staying at both, it looks like the whole
>idea of getting everybody at the same hotel is already shot.

Well, the idea was never to get *everybody* in one place, just to try to
concentrate people together where they know others will be staying, and
to recommend a place (places) that is known to be t-friendly.

It appears to me the comments favor both Sahara and Imperial Palace
about equally. Unless we wanna pull a Florida and demand recounts, I'm
gonna suggest that we consider both Sahara and Imperial Palace to be
our "Suggested" hotels for DLV 2001, since we do have people who will
be at both no matter what, and since the preference appears almost
equally divided with nobody strongly favoring any others.

Comments? Objections?

Getting together:

On a totally different subject, I will be in the Baltimore/Washington
area in two weeks, over the weekend of February 3-4. I know we have a
number of past and potential DLV people in that area. I've written to
those I know to be in the area with my schedule. I'd like to get a group
together if possible, just to say hi, chat, and maybe have a drink or
dinner. If you're in the DC area and haven't received my note, please
write me by e-mail at: annie@annie.net and I'll get a copy of the
schedule off to you.

Kenny Kerr update:

Julianne writes:

>Hi, it looks like Kenny will open at the New Frontier on Feb. 1, at
>least that is the latest rumor.

Thanks for the update. Looks like Kerr has kinda gone full circle with
this, since they appeared briefly at the Frontier right after the Silver
Slipper closed (the original venue of Boylesque) and Siegfried and Roy
had left the Frontier.

>Looking forward to DLV.

Me too. :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Admirers:

>What's your policy on Admirers?

Uh, we don't really have any policy.

>I know at some places, Admirers are NOT wanted
>and I just thought I best check with you beforehand before I make
>any plans.

I would put it this way. Anybody who behaves as a lady or gentleman (or
both at times :) will be welcome.

I'll speak (write) very freely here. Admirers do have the reputation of
coming on very strong. Not all admirers do this, but enough so the
perception is there. It is this behavior, not the fact that they are
admirers, that make them unwelcome in some circles.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Air tours:

Gina writes:

>I'll be at Henderson or North Las Vegas, Henderson is closer to the Dam
>and the scenic scene, I have a Cessna 182. Mornings would be the best,
>and we can do them in boy or girl mode.

Ok, what I'm gonna do it pencil in air tours for both Friday and Sunday
mornings to get them on the slate. We can confirm the exact schedule
for air tours for you and Denise (the other pilot who will be bringing
a plane) as the date approaches.

>I wouldn't even consider flying after a beer.

>Probably no charge.

Thanks, Gina. :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Golf:

>Am I to assume you will be golfing En Drab?

Nope!

See http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2000/country/
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
t* conventions:

>>I really think the area of hospitality is where we run circles around
>>the mainline t* conventions. Feedback over the past 4 years shows this
>>is really one area of strength we have.

>Pardon me if I just walked in on the conversation, but what do
>you mean by that? The mainline t* conventions, that is?

Events such as Fantasia Fair, Southern Comfort, Fall Harvest, etc. Many
of them are similar to the point of being virtual clones of one another.

I didn't mean to imply that *all* of them are lacking in hospitality,
but reports from some people, especially newcomers, do say that some of
them can be quite cliquish and difficult for an outsider.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Airfare notes:

In an unannounced move, Southwest and a few other carriers extended
their $99 each way (plus taxes and nuisance fees, of course) for TWO
WHOLE DAYS this past week! {twirling index finger} (I guess somebody
has to pay for the blue paint. :)

Vanguard Airlines has announced $130 Rt from MCI (Kansas City) to Las
Vegas. Checking their website, the fare is real and seats are available
over the DLV period. Their "normal" fare is $69 each way.

I dunno if the others are matching this.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Newsgroup exposure:

As many of you know, each year I post one brief note about DLV in some
of the Usenet newsfroups. About a week or so I posted one in the group
soc.support.transgendered. To my surprise, I checked in the next day
and found 30-some responses. If anybody cares to read a digressive and
somewhat amusing thread, check soc.support.transgendered for the past
week or so. Deja should have it if you don't have local Usenet access.

And no, we aren't gonna move DLV to Australia. :)

I'm always good. {blush} Just that I couldn't drink for medical reasons
in 2000. :) Slipping annie a shot of Galiano {sic} has almost become a
DLV tradition. :)

Updates, big sisters, offers:

Robyn & Mindy at LV Fantasy Tours writes:

>Just a quick update. Kenny Kerr has announced his new venue. It will be
>a mainstream variety show at the Frontier beginning on Feb 1. It
>features Maggi & Rick who have headlined at Keys for sometime.

>Two shows per nite, dark on Sunday, price is in the low 30's. Tickets
>are available from Allstate Tours.

Thanks for the update. I think it's now safe to say this is solid on our
schedule.

>Mindy and I would like to offer our help as big sisters, tour guides,
>and can provide transportation for 6-8 people (two cars).

Thanks. We'll put you on the list for both Big Sisters and drivers.

>In addition to that which is all gratis for the diva girls, we will also
>give any of the diva girls 25% off any of our services and 10% off on
>merchandise for that week.

>I see there are a number of diva girls that live here in Las Vegas and
