Only 79 days left, gang!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Welcome:

Once again, welcome to all who just joined this list. We hope to see all
of you in real life in May. :)

Sorry about the length of this mailing. A lot of material has come in,
plus we're catching up with some of the material received over the past
couple weeks.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Registration confirmation:

Over this next week we will do a confirmation of everybody's DLV
registration. If your registration was received and processed, you will
get a brief confirmation via e-mail with your confirmation number and a
summary of your registration. The message will give you the easy steps
to correct anything that is in error or to cancel if necessary.

IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION BY E-MAIL WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK,
YOUR REGISTRATION HAS NOT BEEN PROPERLY RECEIVED AND RECORDED. If you
are *sure* you have registered and do not get a confirmation, please
write to dlv@geekbabe.com and explain the circumstances. Thanks for
your cooperation.

If you receive two or more confirmations with different confirmation
numbers, please write to dlv@geekbabe.com and give both (all) numbers
so we can kill the stale one(s) and keep the current one. I think I
have all dupes removed, but ...

Kenny Kerr:

>Kenny Kerr has opened at the New Frontier. There's a good write-up
>in today's Neon. Looks like he's back on track.

Thanks. Let's consider this now to be a "definite" on the DLV schedule
for Saturday nite.

If anybody wants to read the article, it's on the {Las Vegas Review-
Journal} website at http://www.lvrj.com in the "Neon" section. Title
is "Making Changes" and is the leadoff story in the online edition.
The current Neon issue will be on line until next Friday.

Networld+Interop:

>What's N + I ? From the one comment, it sounds like a business convention,
>perhaps it would be useful to me.

If your business is networking (voice and data type) it might be. N+I is
the #1 networking conference and convention. http://www.interop.net/

Oh, if you go, go early and do DLV too! :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Imperial Palace rooms:

>I called the Imperial Palace to extend my reservation, fyi rooms are
>getting tight there.

Thanks for the heads up. Ladies (gentlemen), please don't procrastinate on
reservations, either travel or hotel.

If anybody finds a "sold out" condition at either of our recommended
hotels, please let us know. If the hotel desk says they are sold out,
often times you can still get a room by going thru a travel agent
(such as Hawaiian VIP Tours, see notices in previous newsletters) or
a room broker such as Las Vegas Reservation Systems (on the web at
http://www.lvrs.com/).

I'm sure as the DLV date approaches, both the Imperial Palace and the
Sahara will be quite full. There will be alternatives, but don't put
your hotel reservations on the back burner.

>Also, do you know what N+I is ?

Networld+Interop. Network convention. See url above.

>>Subject: Re: dlv It happens in Moline ... :)

Actually that's blueBLOOD streets of Baaaaaston. <vbfg>

I was wondering if anybody would catch that. :)

... and ...

>Re Moline:

You are very welcome. Feel free to write anytime you want.

Thank you. Contributions to this cause are always appreciated. We'll do
the actual matching of drivers to riders as the date approaches.

Again, thanks for the suport. :)

Drinking notes:

(insert tongue in cheek)

>> Drinking en femme:

> I have my own tips to offer for drinking en femme:

>1. Drink any way you want to.

>2. If somebody doesn't like it, who gives a sh*t?

>3. No matter what Annie orders, bring her Galiano.

And >YOU< know what happens when I drink Galiano. :)

For those who don't know what Galiano {sic} is, an approximation (of
both taste and effect) can be easily made with a 50/50 mix of vodka and
Robitussin. (HHOK, Kids, don't try this at home, adults, don't try
this anywhere!)

>+3). Girls use straws. If the bartender doesn't put a straw in your
>+drink, ask him/her for one. If the bartender forgets again for your
>+second drink, then he/she is either incompetent, incredibly

Speaking of which, if I may digress for a few lines, this weekend was
the first time I remember being served a can of beer with a straw. :)

IRC, etc.:

You're very welcome! :)

>I have not seen anyone on #transgender for quite some time. It is like a

>whatever? I am still new to chatting and miss you all. Tell me how to
>find you.

#transgender on efnet is very close to dead. #crossdress on efnet is still
around, but does not have the traffic it used to. Many of the regulars
on both those have moved to the #transgender channel on the server
irc.pinkmyst.com although I was with a bunch of the old regulars irl last
weekend and we were saying we should maintain a presence on efnet, since
it does get the lion's share of the newcomers. To get to the new channel
just enter the following in most clients:

/server irc.pinkmyst.com
/join #transgender

Mailbag:

>I was going over the letter here and noticed something about O closing
>down. I have not heard anything about ir but I will check. The tickets
>for that are close to $100 each.

As I said, that is rumor on the net. Further conversation has said it
will be an expiry and non-renewal, but still nothing is substantiated.

net.rumor is sometimes totally wrong, but often quite accurate. The word
that S&R had split up was on the net long before they quit denying it.
Ditto for their subsequent make-up and their new contract for life.

>The Blue Man Group sells out for each performance. The tickets for that
>are $88 and from what I have seen and heard it is terrific.

>The other shows, Mystre, EFX at the MGM, RA at Luxor, well, there are so
>many. Just remember that they can be expensive 60-100 each. There is
>also a new show at the Paris and I believe the New Aladdin has a show.
>I will get the Friday paper or Whats On Paper and let everyone know
>what is going on during DLV.

>Also, for those who may not know, The Desert Inn is closed. They are
>going to rip it down and build something new.

Yes, unfortunately that is true.

>That is it for now. Are there any others from your mailing that live in
>Las Vegas? Let me know.

We have quite a few from the Las Vegas area, both on the mailing list and
of those who have registered. DLV is always an excellent opportunity for
the local people to meet face to face.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Shows:

>>I'm assuming you mean the two Cirque Du Soleil shows that are appearing
>>in Las Vegas. _Mystere_ (pronounced mis-tear) is appearing at Treasure

>IS that "tear" as in crying or "tear" as in ripping?

Yes! <vbfg>

>>There are two other "artsy" shows playing. _Blue_Man_Group_ is at the
>>Luxor and is well worth it. Not as artsy as _Mystere_ and not as earthy
[munch]

>and are you going to get an official en-femme trip to any of these?

Probably not anything official. I see these as options for people who
may want to sneak away on any of the off-nights such as Wednesday or
Thursday. We don't want to two-track the feature events of the weekend
evenings.

Of course, if there's a demand (AND somebody volunteers to do the
legwork) something like this could be a second-track option on, say,
Thursday.

Shows Mystere and O:

>I saw mystere several(many?) years ago when they were preforming in a
>large tent in the back of the casino, I think it was the Mirage (could

>
>I'm kinda of a shy person, and didn't want any attention, and was quite

>that.
>
>Also I check several online pages that offer what shows are available in
>vegas. The one I check out and use most of the time is " lvol.com " It

For the shows that (still) have maitre'd seating, they usually take
reservations, but do not assign seats until the "tickets" (the green
ones with the pictures of ex-presidents) are shown. Kenny Kerr at the DR
and Plaza was that way. We (DLV group) always bribed for good seats. In
one case, we took a collection and flashed it as we were being seated.
In the other case when I made a group reservation I remarked we would
"take care" of the showroom staff. :)
