Only 16 days left, gang!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Two weeks to go:

We are now just over two weeks away from DLV 2002. Just about all plans
are in stone and everybody is ready to go. Everything still points to a
very heavy turnout.

From now until DLV, this list will go to an as-needed mailing schedule.
We will still try to concentrate most items in the regular Sunday and
Wednesday mailings, but the schedule may be adjusted and additional
mailings may be made if necessary.

If you have not registered and would still like to attend DLV, time is
getting tight, prices are rising, and hotels (and our activities) are
filling up. We're getting very close to last call for registrations.
Register on line at: http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/reg.html

A week from Wednesday, April 24., we will be sending out our large final
mailing to everybody who is registered as of that time. This will
include such things as contact information and phone numbers; the final
detailed schedule, with locations, times, where to meet, etc.; very
explicit driving directions to activity locations, intended mainly for
those who are unfamiliar with the area; a link to a map showing all of
our activity locations; dress guidelines and suggestions; and various
notes regarding DLV and the activities. This will only be sent to those
who are registered as of April 24.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Heads up:

14 day-in-advance airfares expire this week!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
LaFemme advance payment:

For those needing to send in advance payment for LaFemme (production
show that we will attend Thursday evening) tickets, Monique needs to
have these received no later than Wednesday, April 24th.

For those who wish to pay in person, Monique will take payment in person
at the following DLV activities:

Tuesday evening dinner
Tuesday evening Pre-DLV Get-together
Wednesday afternoon Hidden Woman Open House
Wednesday evening dinner and Welcome Celebration
Wednesday night slumber party

If you need to make arrangements to pay and need to speak to Monique
personally, her cell number is: 615-476-6110

Cutoff for payment will be 9:00am Thursday, May 2. No additional
reservations or cancellations will be accepted after that time.

Once purchased, these tickets are non-refundable.

One other note, weekday shows seldom sell out, but if any shortage of
space occurs, it will be first-paid, first served.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Activity notes:

Friday evening dinner is now getting close to full. We don't have a
waiting list (yet) but be aware that latecomers may be directed to an
alternate overflow location. (I think Tina mentioned that she would be
driving a vanload to Fatburger.)

Our people will be checking with their people to verify exactly how
many they can handle, so we will know exactly how many they can handle
shortly.

Makeup demo no longer has a waiting list. See below.

If you change your mind on anything, just fill out the activity sign-up
screen with your new selections and resubmit. Please note that any
cancellations for the Limo Tour or the High Tea must be received by
Wednesday, May 1 at the latest or payment will be expected if your
space cannot be resold.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Southern Belle Social:

The Southern Belle Society (http://www.southernbellesociety.com/) will
be hosting a Social for all of the Diva Las Vegas people on Friday,
May 3, at 1:00pm at a location to be determined shortly.

Monique and Cat want me to emphasize that this is for ALL DLV people and
not just for members of the Southern Belle Society (SBS). This will be a
strictly social activity, not a recruiting drive or support meeting.

Monique writes the following about the SBS:

>If you are not aware of the Southern Belle Society, we are strictly a
>social group and not a 'support group clone'. In fact, most of the
>support comes from just getting out and socializing - very similar to
>DLV in several respects. If you are not aware of the Southern Belle
>Society or would like to learn more about it...please visit their URL
>at:

From a personal standpoint, although I'm not a member of SBS I've been
known to show up on occastion at some of their functions. They're a fun
group, very outgoing, and very inclusive. They estimate that from 10-20
of their people will be attending DLV this year, and they invite
everybody from DLV to join them on Friday.

Dance Night:

Tina writes:

>One acitivity we haven't talked much about this year on the general
>list is the Friday night Dance Night activity. This is a very simple
>activity and everybody who goes always has great fun. We had so much
>fun dancing last year that nobody stopped to take many pictures,
>although rumor has it that there is a video floating around of us.

>We try to arrive by 11:30 to make parking easier and to get there in

>it that early). The dance floor at Gipsy is very large and we have
>always been treated very well there. Last year, they were remodeling
>the outside, so I'll be interested to see the improvements.

>Later in the evening, Gipsy will get quite crowded. After all, it is
>Friday night. There are other gay dance clubs next door and across the
>street. They will be equally crowded. Note that Gipsy does attract
>something of a mixed (that is both gay and straight, mostly tourist)
>crowd (gee, are DLV girls considered tourists?) earlier in the evening
>and more predominantly gay in the wee hours of the AM.

>One important note: if you don't use valet parking, be careful about

>that you do), you really should try hard to park in the lot of the club
>you are going to attend. Some girls just leave their cars at Goodtimes
>and taxi back and forth to Gipsy. That works very well also.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Rides and riders:

About a week from now we will be preparing lists of those who need rides
and those who have volunteered to drive. These will be broken down by
where people are staying. We'll have lists for the Sahara, the IP, and
for those staying elsewhere.

For those needing a ride, and those who have volunteered to drive,
please be sure that your arrival date, your departure date, and where
you are staying is correct in your registration. You may update this
on the registration page at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/reg.html
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Activity screen tracking:

>>A point of clarification, you must click on the SUBMIT button at the
>>bottom of the activity signup screen for your selections to be
>>recorded.

>I'm probably the one who complained about this. It's just that there's
>no way to be sure you were registered. You always send out e-mail for
>anything on the web. I was expecting one.

I made a slight change (other than correcting a spelling error) to show
the internal transaction number in the success message. You can write
this down if you want. We will be able to track any problems with this.

If anybody has any concern that their selections were not recorded,
please write and I can look it up.

Glamour Boutique makeup demo expanded:

Due to very heavy demand, the makeup demo and instruction on Saturday
afternoon has been expanded to two back-to-back sessions, thus giving
everybody a chance to participate. Those on the waiting list are now
cleared for this. We'll send out a list of who will be in which session
and the exact times as the date approaches.

Thanks to Stephanie at Glamour Boutique for agreeing to do this.

GB and HW:

>> 1:00pm (Wed) Hidden Woman Open House
...
>> 1:00pm (Thu) Glamour Boutique Open House

>Are these the same?

These are two different shops.

>I'm confused. Does Glamor Boutique own hidden woman or vice versa

Different ownership, different management.

They are the same in that they are both specialty shops that cater
primarily to the t* community. They are both hosting an open house
session for DLV people.

>If they are different which one do you recommend? Are these the same
>store?

It's impossible to give a general recommendation of one over the other
without knowing exactly what you are looking for. The two shops have
similar, but not identical lines and services. Both of them have very
good feedback so far, both on service and on prices. I have not heard
any serious gripes about either.

I've heard rumblings that a third shop of this type is planning to open
a Las Vegas branch within the next few months.
