Feedback, photos, etc.:

For those who care <g> I arrived home safely a couple hours ago. The
flight was uneventful, except for getting selected for "wanding" and
a whole row of screaming rugr^H^H^H^Hchildren right behind me.

Feedback is coming in. Not everything that has come in so far is
included in this mailing, as I wanted to get this out more or less on
time. Everything will be published.

Thanks to those who have sent in photographs. Not all of them are up
yet, so if you don't see yours, it's just because I have not placed
them on line yet. There are more on the way in snailmail.

They may or may not have the same file name as what you sent. If the
normalizer detects any non-web-friendly names (such as names containing
spaces) it will rename all images in that directory.

There seems to be a bit of confusion about the veto process. Everybody
will have a reasonable number of no-questions-asked do-not-use requests
for any photos in which they appear. Vetoed photos will not be used on
the final web page.

If you want to veto any photos, send me the file name, the directory,
and which person in the picture you are. "Please don't use img0003.jpg
in the /dlv02s99 directory, I am the third from the right" leaves no
questions, but "Don't use that picture of me at the bar" (anybody's
ears burning? <vbfg>) does not work very well. :)

Don't worry, we will have a conspicuous final call for vetoes before the
DLV followup pages are made.

As for captioning, one person sent in an edited photo with a caption
superimposed. Anybody can certainly suggest captions for photos that
will appear on the final web page, but please wait until the final pages
are composed, plus I do not want to bastardize the original images, so
we want to keep captions as text items to accompany the images, and not
part of them.

I've had some very nice comments about the photos so far. The quantity
and quality has been super so far. Keep 'em coming, gang.

If anybody has photos of the Gipsy dance night, the SO's luncheon, the
GB makeup demo, the High Tea, or the Palace Station buffet, they would
be appreciated. Those are the only activities I haven't seen. (There may
be some that have come in that I have not seen yet.)

Thanks to everybody who took and sent in photos. We'll credit all the
photographers when the followup pages are composed.

Special thanks:

I would like to specifically thank the following people, without whose
efforts DLV could not happen, or at least could not happen as such a
major success. (Geez I hope I'm not leaving anybody out.)

Leah, for coordinating the welcome dinner at Hamburger Mary's and the
Friday evening dinner at Sasha's.

LeeAnna and Cindy for planning and coordinating the Wednesday night
Slumber Party.

Denise (Densie) and Gina, for coordinating and piloting the air tours.

Mindy, for planning and coordinating the swimming party, the Boardwalk
reception, the golf outing, high tea, and the Sasha's floor show.

Monique, for managing the logistics and the $$$ for the LaFemme show,
for being our primary name taker, and for some behind-the-scenes
diplomatic work.

Aiko and Yvonne, for coordinating the limo tour. That has been one of
the high points for many of us, for the second year in a row!

Diane (Mindy's SO) for coordinating and hostessing the SO's luncheon.

Cat and Monique, for the Southern Belle Social.

There are two behind-the-scenes people who I would also like to
recognize, those being Tina and Michelle. Tina was one of our most
active planners, and did quite a bit of background work in addition to
proposing the Go Blonde Day.

Michelle was one who set the tone of DLV, calling the question of
vacation vs. convention and some related items early in the game, and
was the one who did the original DLV 2002 schedule. If you compare
Michelle's original draft and the final schedule, you will see many
similarities.

Let's hear a big round of applause (clap-clap-clap {whistle}) for those
who made DLV happen! This is one for the record books! :)

And, if I've missed anybody, please let me know and accept my apology.

E-mail directory:

Again this year we will have a post-DLV e-mail directory for those who
wish to share their e-mail address with the others.

Again, to receive a copy of this directory, you must supply your name
and e-mail address to be included.

This is strictly voluntary.

To have your name and e-mail address included, please write a brief note
to: dlv@geekbabe.com, with the words "e-mail directory" in the subject,
which includes the following:

First name (last name optional) the way you want it to be listed.

e-mail address

Web site URL (optional).

There are a couple people who wrote in saying to pass their e-mail
address on. If you did this, please resend with the above information
and "e-mail directory" in the subject. Thanks.

We will be sending this out shortly, when the flow of inclusions appears
to drop off.

Contrast this with another Sahara comment below (or above, I dunno which
order the digestifier will grab them).

This is really the first negative thing I've heard about the Sahara. I
ate at the buffet several times (mostly breakfast) and did not have a
bad meal. I admit that if you're expecting the Bellagio buffet, the
Sahara buffet will disappoint you.

As far as the people, yes, we did have an influx of jock types over the
weekend, but really, we can't control, or even predict what the hotel's
other guests will be like. (If you think that was bad, try staying at
the Riviera during the rodeo finals week. :)

That's what we were doing with our three suggested hotels. We realize
that we're never gonna get everybody in the same place, but we have been
concentrating people in a few.

It's established that both the location (Las Vegas) and the approximate

I don't think we have to worry about that place closing. From what they
tell me (the ubiquitous "they"), the place is well capitalized. They
just celebrated their second month and I can see they are turning a
profit already.

Uh, how do I put this ... uh, planes scare the $#!+ out of me! I do have
to fly regularly for business and pleasure, but I don't like it. Just one
of my quirks, I guess ... (I'm actually not afraid of flying, I'm afraid
of crashing. <semi grin>)

I'm sure you and Monique will have a great time. :)

I agree that is tacky, but ... They did have one bartender there last

Sahara comments:

I agree that the limo tour was again one of the DLV high points. :)

>I can't believe how we were treated at the Sahara. Parkers opened the

Contrast this with some other Sahara comments above or below. I personally
have very few complaints about the Sahara, but I will say that if you are
expecting a fancy-schmancy place like the Bellagio or Four Seasons, you
will be disappointed.

>As I said, if there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

If you're serious about helping out with DLV, there will be a call for

I was told they tried to correct the lighting situation in the one
