June-July report:

Discussions on the ORG list have been winding down regarding the
summarizing of this year's event and have turned toward initial planning
for DLV 2003.

Topping the do-it list for the next month will be the setting of the
schedule (the days, not the detailed hourly schedule) for DLV 2003. Our
timeframe for this is as follows:

July 31: Have a proposed calendar of days ready to present to the
general DLV audience in the July-August monthly summary.

August 1-31: Call for comments and discussion from the general DLV
audience (those of you on this list) regarding the proposed dates.
Mid-month mailings will be made if needed.

September 1: Announcement of the DLV 2003 dates.

The year of 2003 presents a challenge to us. Easter is late and there
is just a three-week window between Easter and Mothers Day, both which
we plan to avoid.

There is no period that jumps out as being ideal for DLV. However,
several potential timeframes have been discussed, with two standing out
as being quite workable, those being:

1. Tuesday, April 22 thru Sunday, April 27. This reflects the same daily
schedule as we had for DLV 2002.

2. Thursday, May 1 thru Tuesday, May 6. This reflects the same daily
schedule as we had for DLV 2000.

There are some slight variations available with both of the above, as
well as workable extensions should they be desired and if enough
volunteers commit to organizing the additional activities.

We will be discussing and deciding on a set of proposed dates and
posting this in the July-August summary.

The DLV Organizational List is not a closed or exclusive list. It's open
to almost anybody who wants to help plan and organize DLV 2003, as well
as most anybody who just wants to listen in for any reason. If you would
like to receive the mailings on the list, just send a brief note to:

dlvorg@geekbabe.com

... and say to add you to the DLV Organizational list.

Monthly summary:

Other than days and timing, there's been discussion on such things as
activities, facilities, activity timing, and transportation.

No activities have been plugged into timeslots yet, but the following
have been proposed for dlv 2003 (in no particular order):

. Shopping trip, Primm Valley (Stateline, large outlet center)

. Casino night

. Showgirls exhibition, Rio

. Art exhibit (Bellagio, LV Art Mus, etc.)

. Star Trek exhibit/ride

. Bowling

. "Artsy" show (Blue Man Group, "O")

. Retro night (50's, 60's, etc.)

. RA nightclub (Luxor)

. Annual Mixer

. Showgirls Of Magic (San Remo)

. Club Girl Talk (evening at Sasha's)

. Side trip to Ale-Inn (area 51)

. Vegas Girl Wigs open house (they have expressed interest)

. Golf

. High tea

. Daily cocktail hour

. Daily brunch

. Limo tour

. SO's get-together

We heard you when you said you wanted more quality social time. Yes,
this will happen. We also heard you when you said there needed to be
more slack time between activities, especially time to freshen up before
evening things. Yes, this again will happen.

Facilities ... We heard you when you said there should be a more upscale
suggested facility. Although we won't be deciding on our suggested
hotels until November or so, please be assured that at least one upscale
place will be on the list.

There are two schools of thought regarding facilities. One is to try
to concentrate our people more, for such things as camaradarie,
familiarity, ease of transportation, and the other is to diversify
more, for more individual options, discretion, less visibility.

The number of suggested facilities, and the facilities themselves will
most likely come to a vote by the DLVORG people around the first of
November.

We're also looking into a professionally-driven shuttle van for
convenient transport between our suggested hotels and our various
activities. If this happens, it will be optional, and there will be
a modest charge, of course.

T-shirts:

Still a couple of DLV 2001 commemorative t-shirts that have not been
picked up. If you requested one and did not pick it up at DLV, please
write to me (annie@annie.net) and give me a snailmail address.

Last call. Any left unclaimed at the end of July will go as golf or
door prizes next year.
