Latest updates:

First of all, welcome to those who just joined the list over the past
few weeks. Any questions or concerns, please ask.
. . . . .

There was no DLV general mailing last week. Between now and April you
can expect this list to come out every 1-2 weeks, usually on Sunday.
. . . . .

Hotel rate updates:

Some quick checks on the rates for our suggested hotels. Your mileage
may vary. :) These are as of random times checking this past week.

For Boardwalk, their hotel web site appears cheapest at $65 average per
night over the DLV dates.

Imperial Palace - LVTB (www.lvtb.com) is showing $69/127 with rooms
available, hotel web site is showing sold out for regular rooms.

For Palace Station: Places To Stay (www.placestostay.com) is showing
$44/83 and the hotel web site is $39/119.

Sahara: Travelworm is still showing $49/85, cheaper than the hotel web
site. However, the web site is now showing $49 on weekdays and $119 on
weekends, a bit lower than they were a few weeks ago. They are also
showing availability of check-in on Saturday the 23rd. -- for now.
. . .

Latest numbers:

Validated primary attendees: 71
Validated SO's: 15
Total validated headcount: 86

Again, no outstanding validations! Thanks for your understanding and
cooperation.

Activity Highlight - Dance Instruction:

Most of our regular mailings will feature one DLV activity in depth.
This week we feature Tuesday's dance instruction.
. . .

This year, as a daytime activity for DLV 05, we plan on having a
group dance lesson.

Although its been nicknamed Ballroom Dancing, in truth it will be a
group dance lesson focused on learning a style of dance that will be
used often in ones life and later that week at the clubs we will visit.

It will be taught by professional dance instructors at the Arthur Murray
Dance Studio, who have shown a keen interest in being a part of our
event. At this time the cost appears to be a mere $15.00 per person and
will be conducted at 2:30 pm Wednesday afternoon.

It's expected to be at least a 2 hour timeslot, considering arriving,
the lessons and then winding down. This should be a lot of fun for those
that already know some dance as well as for those that know nothing of
dancing.

Dance is great exercise and a self confidence builder. This activity
needs a minimum of 8 people and we already have that many plus
interested. This could turn into an annual daytime activity since
DLV'ers always enjoy a night at a club with dancing.

If you're interested in this activity, you can sign up for it when
our activity sign-up begins on April 1.

Dress - Dressing and the weather:

Most general mailings between now and DLV will have some items on the
subject of dress. This week we cover weather-related issues.

Statistically, we can expect warm (but not overly hot) days, with the
highs in the 80s, and cool (but not cold) nights with lows in the high
50's to 60's, during DLV. There's quite a bit of variation, and we've
seen cool days and cold nights, and very hot days and warm nights over
our history.

The most you will probably ever need as far as an outer wrap is
concerned is something like a sweater, pullover, light jacket, big
shirt, etc., and you might not need these at all.

If you don't have a "girlmode" jacket, you may find that those you wear
in boymode will be perfectly fine for girlmode too. Things like the
half-zip pullovers sold almost anywhere are sufficiently unisex to be
worn in either mode.

Those blue denim or chambray shirts make a good outer layer for cool
mornings and can be taken off and carried easily when the temperature
warms up. You will see these frequently in Las Vegas.

Ironically, one of the places where a pullover or big shirt may come in
handy is inside, on the casino floor. Casinos can be quite cool, even
cold.

Daytime in late April in Las Vegas is almost always short sleeve
weather. If you prefer long sleeves, they most likely won't look out
of place enough to attract attention, but they may be warm for you.

Many in our community tend to wear, either by choice or perceived
necessity, more layers underneath than are worn by the general public.
This may be uncomfortably warm in the daytime outside.

One other note about the weather. Although it seldom rains in Las Vegas,
when it does it can be very heavy and can come on with very little
warning. Pack a small umbrella with you, and keep it handy, you may just
need it!
