A few various notes:

As some know, we had a major hardware failure on the www.geekbabe.com
machine earlier this week. As of this time things are getting back to
normal but there are still some sore spots. In particular, the reply and
post new message functions in the DLV Discussion Forum are not working.

If you want to post something in the DLV Discussion Forum, please send
it via regular e-mail to: dlvdisc@geekbabe.com and it will appear in the
forum.

For those who attended DLV 2005 and have not yet taken the DLV 2005
follow-up survey, it's on line (and working again) at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2005/2005survey.html

If you enjoyed yourself at DLV, please let us know. If there was something
wrong, we need to know about it so we can do something about it. There's
space for comments and suggestions there too.

This will stay on line until May 30. Then the results will be tabulated and
reported. The report will appear in the DLV Discussion forum at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlvdisc/

All of the merchant/vendor rating and comment functions are back on line.
Please drop by and give ratings and feedback to the firms you liked during
DLV. If you liked something that isn't listed, please submit it as a new
merchant or vendor.

More photos are now in the staging area. Still more are on the way, or so
they tell me. :)

A few people wrote in asking what happened to the Night Of The Soiled
Doves photos taken inside the CR. There is a delay on these, and we will
announce when they are on line. First of all, not all of them have been
received. They are in transit as of this time via snailmail. When they
are received, they have to be reviewed and released by the CR staff,
just as last year. Unfortunately we don't have an ETA on this. We will
announce this when it happens. Your patience is appreciated. Thanks.

Call For Volunteers:

Diva Las Vegas has always run entirely on volunteer help, and yes, we're
always looking for more volunteers.

During DLV, a number of you asked if there was anything you could do
to help out.

Yes, there is. :)

If you would like to help, we'll sure use you!

Planning and organization of DLV is done mostly on line via e-mail. It's
interactive and participatory. Volunteers form what we call the DLVORG
group.

The DLVORG group is not at all closed or exclusive. With very rare
exception, it's open to anybody who expresses interest in helping out
with DLV.

DLVORG people participate at the decision-making level, the organizing
and planning level, and at the nuts-and-bolts level.

The DLVORG group has one mission and one mission only, and that is to
plan the activities that make up what we call Diva Las Vegas.

All of our major activities were "adopted" by one or more of our
volunteers, who jumped through the necessary hoops to make them happen.

All that fun you had at DLV, on the limo tour, at golf, at the shows,
the high tea, etc. was the result of our volunteers stepping forward and
volunteering to make those things happen.

Most of the real "work" involves planning activities and making them
happen. (And I say "work" in quotes, because it can actually be a lot of
fun!)

This year we're going to have an informal "training program" for those
who want to coordinate a DLV activity but don't know where to start.
We'll match you up with a veteran who will show you the ropes and you
two will work together.

Joining the DLVORG group is not intended to be a status symbol. We're
all peers, both organizers and participants. There's no class structure
or pecking order. Hey, we're planning a vacation, not building an
empire!

If you're sincere about wanting to do your part to make a great thing
even better, to give back what DLV has given to you, and help to run an
event that has literally changed lives, please step forward!

I would also encourage those who are "newly out" to consider
volunteering. We need the perspective of those who are new to public
exposure when planning DLV. Each year since 1997, DLV has given some
of our people their first public experience. We do value the input and
support of those who are new, as we do the input from those who have
been in public for years.

To join the DLVORG group, simply send a brief e-mail message to
dlvorg@geekbabe.com and state you wish to volunteer. (Or, just reply
to this mailing and state that you wish to volunteer.)

Please include a sentence or two stating how you are most interested in
helping out. Anything general or specific ("I wanna plan a sky-diving
party.", or "I'll help any way I can.") is perfectly fine. Anything
from one sentence to a book length manuscript will be ok. :)

If you already volunteered via the final screen of the survey, you are
already on the list, and you do not have to answer this calling unless
you want to make some of your ideas known early in the process.

The DLV 2005 organizational list will become active shortly, and those
who volunteered will receive a confirming e-mail and a welcome message.
