>One week later means the possibility of warmer weather.

It seems like each year we get one or more requests to move our
proposed dates either one week earlier or one week later, to
better assure us that we will either not freeze or not melt.

I am not a meteoroligist, but I did grow up in the family of one
(industry, not broadcast) and I did pick up a few things.

One thing I can say with a very good degree of confidence is that
the day to day weather conditions (whether you may freeze, melt,
drown, or blow away) are far more dependent on the short-term
variance than on the long-term averages. In other words, moving
one week earlier is very ineffective assurance that you won't melt,
and moving it one week later is no guarantee that you won't freeze.

In early to mid spring, there will be a 1-2 degree warming of the
mean temperature each week in Las Vegas, and that's less than most
people can sense without looking a a thermometer. It's really the
day to day conditions, which are not predictable 8-9 months in
advance, that determine if you will melt or freeze.

I've lived out here for 15 years and there is no reason to be
concerned about the weather. I can maybe remember one year when
Diva was extremely warm and the next week it cooled considerably.

Most attendees only seem to go to the evening things so if the temp
is a consideration, why not think about starting your evening events
an hour later (when applicable) than they usually are? Dinners at 8
or 9 etc. This will also give the slowpokes some extra time to get
there.

When I ran the Carluccio's dinner we always had a fair amount of girls
arriving late for various reasons.

I'm not a meteorologist either but a native of the Southwest region of the
United States. I know as well all about variances in the weather, blah, blah,
blah. There have been times we've had warm days in February. All I know
from living here all of my life (for over 50 years) is that there's a better
chance of the weather being cooler a week earlier. I really don't care one way
or another when you have DLV. It's the majority's choice. Setting aside
Mother's Day, it is hard to find a week suitable for ALL of the DLV
participants. Take for instance the event happening in Laughlin or wherever, mentioned
in a latter message. I personally could care less about it. It may be
important to that person who might want to attend that event and still wish to
attend DLV. I being a Catholic, Holy Week is important to me. I participate in
the Good Friday service as well as the Easter Sunday morning Mass. Holy
Week is probably not important to a lot of the DLV attendees. Some probably
could care less about that week. My point is that 1) chances are that it's
usually cooler earlier in the month of April, and 2) it's difficult to find a
week suitable to everyone's schedule in life. I enjoy the camaraderie one finds
at DLV. If I miss it, it's not the end of the world for me. I'll just go
to Las Vegas on my free time and hook up with acquaintances there.

I'm not a Catholic (although some of my relatives are), but Passover
and Easter are inseparable (Most of my Relatives are Jewish,
although I was raised more Jewish than most of my relatives).
I care about Holy Week too, perhaps for different reasons.

I think the worst thing you can do is plan the dates according to
what you hope the weather *might* be like. In the years I've
attended I've seen everything from severe wind to jacket/sweater
necessary chilliness to withering heat, often in the same week.
You just can't control the weather.

I think the most important scheduling factor should be in keeping
the week affordable for the largest number of participants (i.e.
keeping it away from the large convention weeks that jack up the
room rates). After that, take into account holidays and holy-days,
then the weather considerations.

I can live with that. I know that it is not easy to find a perfect
time that will meet everybody's schedule. That's why sometimes I
attend DLV, and other times do not attend DLV.

What my bosses have scheduled for me comes first. I prefer cooler
weather to warm weather. I enjoy going out in the daytime in Las
Vegas while en femme.

I love the English High Tea. When that sun is beating down on you,
it gets very warm under the wig. And if I am wearing some kind of
body shaper, it only gets worst.

I did go out one warm humid day in St. Louis, to attend the
Pride Festival. I wore a tank top, shorts, sandals, as well
as my undies and my wig. I was burning up. I did not go out in the
day time after that. So, I feel better when the weather is cooler.

Still, I understand the extreme difficulty in finding that perfect
week for DLV.

Such is true. I work outside and wear a wig all the time, and I am
OK in 115 degree weather. I wear long pants too. Now cold is another
story. At least my wig keeps my head warm.

Sincerely, Joan in hot LV with AC turned on.
