I've found MAC makeup artists to be the most helpful in that
regard (basic face). Just ask Yvonne. I "dragged" her up to
the MAC counter in some store in LV at a DLV several years ago.
The MAC girl was utterly charming to us.

Their company slogan is something like, "any race, any sex,
any age".

They're very cool about working on t-girls. Their products are
a little pricy, but very good quality (e.g., I've been using
the same set of MAC makeup brushes bought 10 years in NYC at MAC
Pro store on average of 3 times per week since then without
replacement - still as good as new).

For next year, you might considering calling the MAC store in
LV (was in the shopping mall attached to Bellagio, IIRC) about
6 weeks before DLV and getting some names from them.

Just a thought.

Jamie Renae and I have have been to the MAC store in
the mall at Ceaser's almost every year, with the same
satisfying results!

Ya know, this one seems so obvious I'm surprised we didn't think
of it before, like right before DLV when it was needed. :(

There are disadvantages I see to this. First, they push their
line of products, which tend to be $pendy. The big one, however
is that those in our group who need this are going to be the
newbees and the LSs, who might be a bit shy of going into such
a public place and being made over in plain sight.

Am I correct that MAC does their makeovers right in the open
like they do at JCP and Dillards?

However, if they can take the time to show how to do things,
such as the eyes, the total cost may be well within reason.

>Their company slogan is something like, "any race, any sex,

Hmmmm ... That almost translates to "TGs Invited", huh? :)

Thanks. :)

I can't speak for the MAC stores in LV, but the one in
Dallas, has a private room for makeovers!

Same in Atlanta. Many SCC attendees take advantage of that.
I'm sure that something similar could be arranged with the MAC
folks in Vegas.

Huggs, Monique Monet

(p.s., sorry I missed this year, it sounds like ya'll had a great DLV'07!).

The MAC store in the Caesar's Palace Shops is fairly small
(maybe about 700 sq ft). I don't know if they have a private
back room, but I stopped in to buy some concealer and just sat
in a chair on the sales floor while the sales woman tried some
different shades on me to find the right match. I had no problems.

The Caesar's location is also in the front of the building, which
is much less heavily trafficked than the main part of the mall
where all the restaurants are. If you go early in the day (they
open at 11am) there's not a lot of people around.

Generally only at the MAC makeup counters in department stores.

In the MAC standalone stores, it's in the open or in the
private room (almost all stores have these, as others already
mentioned). If we went as a group, we would want to make
prior arrangements to avoid swamping the store's staff.
The standalone stores aren't really very big.

But, what I was really thinking of was this. MAC maintains
lists of their certified makeup artists. These people don't
usually work/sell in the stores, they work in the industry
itself (fashion photography, movies, etc.). They come to you
or you go directly to them (for a fee).

There are several of these folks here in Austin, for instance.

I know that LV has several also. We could simply set this up
for some afternoon in someone's hotel room. Have a sign-up
list. Walk out with a list of what to buy from the MAC
counter. (Note that the makeup artists are authorized to
buy MAC cosmetics at a sizable discount and then re-sell it,
so there is usually an opportunity to buy what was used on you
"on the spot". Some of the artists will pass along some of that
discount, at their option.)

>they push their line of products, which tend to be $pendy.

I've always loved the way you spell that. :-)

Well, I think that as girls get more experienced, they learn to
mix and match. I still buy the 99 cent Cover Girl eyebrow pencils
and whomever's mascara is on sale at Walgreen's. But, in terms
of powder and eye shadow, MAC really isn't that much more and I
personally see a qualitative difference. YMMV.

>However, if they can take the time to show how to do things,

They do, if you ask. And we would. :-)

Best Regards,

I agree. Maybelline Great Lash is still the best mascara I've ever
found, and still a bargain at $3.99 on sale.

MAC makes a terrific pancake foundation that I don't mind paying a
little extra for, especially since the sales people will take the
time to find the exact shade you should be wearing. MAC's best
product that hardly anyone knows about is called PREP + PRIME,
which is a moisturizing, silicone-based makeup primer that helps
even out your skin tone.

No matter which MAC store you go into, here's one guarantee: you
will not be the first genetic male who's ever come in to buy
make-up for himself.

Another reason to support MAC - they donate a portion of their
corporate profits to AIDS research through the MAC AIDS Fund.

Sorry for this late response.

Yes, Tina is correct about MAC. After she introduced me to MAC, I've
been using their products since! Thank you Tina, MAC is a winner!!

I've ALWAYS found the MAC staff to be very helpful and show NO
hesitation in helping males, or transgendered customers, or any sort
of negative body or verbal language.

I also observed their staff do a makeover on a dlv attendee who was
brave enough to sit at the counter in the dept store. The staff
girl did a excellent job and again, I saw no negative attitude
nor negative body language.

MAC is one of a few companies that offer a very large range of
colors for shadows, blush and foundational make-up. I've always
been satisfied at the quality of the product. They also sell color
coordinated shadow combinations also, so its easy to put those colors
on and not worry if they clash. They provide the latest in fashion
products like glitter, liquid lipstick, liquid eye shadow and lip
gloss. They have more grades of color for foundational make-up too.

As Tina also mentioned, their brushes are excellent and will last a
long time. Having a good quality brush makes a very big difference
in how your face will look. I used to use the cheap foam wedges to
put on liquid foundation. The MAC staff introduced me to use their
good quality brush instead...been using brushs every since.

Yes their prices are higher than L-oreal or Maybellene..etc, Basically
you get what you pay for. The more expensive, I would expect a
better product and it is.... again, to me, MAC is worth the price
and its a better product.

I've also found that I use less MAC product than if I were to use
Cover-Girl or the other walmart brands to produce the same results.
In other words the amount I use everytime I put on makeup is less
when using MAC make up than using other cheaper brands.

MAC's richness of the color is also is longer lasting. I find it
doesn't fade as the evening progresses, and doesn't require any
touch-up.

Alot of younger ggs populate the store...I've never seen any MAC
counter without some gg looking around, getting a make-over or
just buying something. So if you want to stay in current fashion
make-up MAC is a good place to do your shopping.

The ggs staffing MAC are also very very attractive. They themselves
put on make-up very well. Its one way of showing those staff girls
know what they are doing if they can go to work looking like that on
their own faces. I was also very impressed with the knowledge and
ablilites of their male staff too.

You don't have to wait to get to DLV to buy MAC, most shopping places
that has Macy's will probably have a MAC outet somewhere. I actually
am able to buy MAC stuff back home.
