Suggestions for our group luncheon on Friday; the Sahara or elsewhere and why

Last year we tried moving our group luncheon around rather than
eating at the Sahara most of the week. Our Hilton experience was
less than successful and we decided not to go back. There has been
a long standing tradition of lunch at the Bellagio buffet on Friday,
but this year's Wednesday morning art show at the Bellagio makes it
better to have lunch there following.

As it now stands we have lunch scheduled for the Sahara on Monday and
Tuesday, the Bellagio on Wednesday, and Harrah's on Thursday. Where do
we go on Friday? Unless there is good support for going to the Bellagio
again on Friday or elsewhere, we'll be back at the Sahara. The Sahara
Buffet offers good value for the cost, is affordable, easy to find, and
easily accessible by the many who stay there and others by public
transportation and automobile, and well attended when there are no
conflicts. Other casino buffets are much more expensive, and some (like
the Rio, expensive, but really good) would be difficult to get to for
those without a car.

How about it ladies and gentlemen, where do you want to have our group
luncheon on Friday, the Sahara or elsewhere?

Thanks!

Ginger

As for myself, I would be happy to eat at the Sahara
every day of DLV. Sometimes I even go there without
DLV!

It seems to be the best value for the money. I hope I
will be able to see you all, but I might not be able
to be in town that week (hubby said he needs help in
Tokyo).

bye for now from Sarona

Hi Ginger,

What is the affordable price range?

I was thinking of suggesting the Spice Market Buffet at the Aladdin. I
heard it had a write up awhile back saying it was similar/better than
Bellagio. Its kinda close to the IP, but very far away from the
Sahara.

I ate there once, and the setup is similar to new buffets with
different stations serving different ethnic dishes. The food was ok,
nothing outstanding, instead of cold crab that Bellagio serves, the
crab at Aladdin is hot. Not sure if its TG friendly, but it is also
popular for it was quite crowded when I went. Mon - Fri Lunch
11am-2:30pm is $16. Bellagio is $18. The price is still high,
considering Sahara at $8 for brunch and central location ... no
comparison.

Planet Hollywood. Still in transition.

The buffet is (was?) down below the casino. I've been there a number
of times with no issues. However, I have been told that it has
slipped from the quality is was when the original Aladdin folks
were in charge.

I should think that the Aladdin would be friendly to "alternative
lifestyles" seeing as that they have Krave nightclub specifically
targeted to that group of individuals

Yvonne, et al

As far as being TG friendly, I've never had an issue at Aladdin. Benn
there quite a few times as some of their restaurants are really quite
good. The casino has recently changed "brands" though can't remember to
what.

If the buffet is in the Dessert Walk its probably not a big issue while
in the casino it may/may not be.

Hugs
Michelle

I liked all of the buffets we visited last year. I guess I'd vote for
the Saraha, based on convenience.

Ginger, I was unaware of any problems at the Hilton last year. What did
I miss?

This seems to be getting difficult (IMHO). Go here, go there.... How
about just having a picnic someplace? I can bring a couple of coolers.

Floyd Lamb State Park (off the 95, N of LV) used to be a real cool place
to do lunch or whatever. I seem to recall that they had the Galliano
Fountain of Youth out there. But then again, it's been a while since I
claimed LV as my humble abode (1988), and, I prefer Tuaca anyways....

I went to the Spice Market buffet a few months back. It was in a
temporary location with a reduced menu. I was not impressed. However
they are back downstairs as their remodeling is complete. I'm sure they
are just as good as they were before they went to the temporary
location. I'll have to go and try it and let you know how it is.

I think the Aladdin is just as TG friendly as any other hotel. I have
been there a few times. I can't foresee any problems.

Lunch is $16.99 and dinner is $24.99, plus tax.

Sincerely, ANYA, her in Las Vegas.

There are two possible complications of using public parks for DLV
activities. IANAL, and I don't know if they would apply to Floyd Lamb
or not, but they do apply to local city parks.

First, the perpetual rumor of an "Awful Restroom Law" in Las Vegas
appears to have come from a Clark County ordinance which prohibits males
from using or loitering in the vicinity of womens restrooms in public
parks. Since Floyd Lamb is in Clark County, this probably applies, but
as I said, IANAL.

Second, and I think this only applies to city (county?) parks, is that
groups of over a certain number (20? 25? something like that) need a
permit.

We've decided to not do picnics and such in the past for these reasons.

>I seem to recall that they had the Galliano

OH NO! We're never gonna hear the end of this one! :) :) :)
