Hi.

Tina mentioned her preference for staying at the easy egress type places
and I wondered if any of the girls have ever used the motel sections of
the larger Casino's. eg:- Stardust, Tropicana, palace Station etc' or
any others worth mentioning. This would suit my needs as I would like to
have the option of using both geared to my confidence level at the time.

I have searched the web pages of the larger places for the prices etc'
and find no mention of their Motel sections at all.

Thank's Kate.

Kate,

My experience at the motel or "garden" wings of the hotels has been
pretty good for access/egress, but mixed on room quality. At the
Tropicanna we found the room too warm and when we opened the window for
air the street noise was too much. We moved to a tower room that trip.

At San Remo the only problem was a few crickets that decided to move in
and sing to me. Terrible's was older and out of the way, but other than
that a reasonable alternative. With each one I could leave the hotel
without walking through the main casino or lobby. Regardless, all of
these are better than staying at any of the motels I've visited in L.V.
The Motel 6 didn't have a tub and the Super 8 had you walk thru the
lobby past old guys with greasy hair and teenagers waiting for the video
game. Do stay at a hotel Dear, you will be better off for it.

Good luck, I get nervous at that first step out the door and knowing its
a hop, skip and jump to the car is a real benefit.

I'm not 100% but mostly sure that those motel style rooms at the
Stardust are no longer available and have been closed down for a year or
so but someone could ask. I would stay away from the Stardust, there
were a few problems there during the Imperial Court Coronation and the
management did nothing and as yet hasn't reponded to any mails sent to
them about the incidents.

Hard to believe but the coffee shop staff actually snickered and
gathered to look at a group of the girls sitting for dinner one night.
Would have thought they would be better trained than that. OK, I'll
concede the girls were in drag for the evening festivities but
still......

Stardust tore down their west-coast style (outside entrance) motor inn
buildings in late 1999. There's some discussion of this on the DLV 1999
mailing list. If you want to see this, go to this URL and the next few:

http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/arc99/0031.html

Stardust still has their Villa rooms, which is actually the old Royal
Nevada Hotel, once a separate property, that surrounds the older pool. I
had a very nice suite in that for DLV 1999. (Long story, ask me.) This
has interior hallways and connects to the main casino building, but it's
two-story, no elevators, and no guards.

Margeth has stayed in the IP motel buildings a few times. Personally,
I think the IP's tower rooms are a LOT nicer, but the motel ones are
still very OK. These are outside-entrance style.

We've had people stay at Palace Station in their garden rooms who have
liked them. These do have hallways, but have convenient parking lot
entrances.

We've even had some people stay at the Westward Ho (known to some as
the Westward Hole) with good reports. Just don't eat in the coffee
shop/buffet.

They seldom mention them. However, the bargain basement rates you see
for the IP, PS, and Trop sometimes will usually be in these sections,
which will usually be older and smaller rooms.

Kate,

I stayed at the Sahara last year. The parking garage is right outside
what I guess is the rear entrance. Sometimes I parked my car myself in
the garage and sometimes, I had valet do it! It was not a problem any
time. I also had no problem getting onto or off the street that runs
behind the Sahara.

I don't know about the other hotels, but to me parking at the Sahara was
easy!

That's a good point Tootsye..... that Sahara self park garage is very
close to the back casino entrance where the cabs would drop you off
anyway. So if you have a car and might be a bit shy about the waiting
line for a cab this is a viable alternative. Not meaning you Toots.....
God knows you're not shy! LOL

HI:

I have stayed in the Tropicana Garden section. Although it is not a
Motel type structure. It is only 3 or 4 stories and provides a direct
exit to the parking lot. It is separate from the two towers and there
is no reason to exit through the Casino unless you wish to. The rates
for the Garden rooms are also less than the towers.

In addition to the easy egress one can get to their car without walking
several miles as is the case in most major strip motels,

Other alternatives are the smaller hotels and motels off the strip. Most
provide easy departure and ability to get to your car as well as more
affordable rates. I recommend the Howard Johnson's near the airport and
few blocks off the strip as well as the days inn on Koval. I have been
to all 3 I have also stayed at Palace Station. They have a motel complex
in the rear. It is priced reasonably and provides easy departure. The
Stardust also has a huge motel complex but I have not stayed there.
