It still amazes me as to how many arrive for DLV expecting it to be more
along the line of the mainline TG conventions.

I'm really not sensing any pressure to make DLV more like the
conventions anymore (that seemed to die around 2002, may it rest in
peace) but there's still the perception that there will be speakers
and a vendor hall and yes, the ubiquitous RCB. :) :)

Annie,

Keri here, we met last year and I appreciate your advice. I'm wondering
if you have any info or recommendations about the Stratosphere Hotel,
the have some very good rates right now. Are you planning another limo
thing, I don't want to miss that.

The Stratosphere has been a suggested DLV hotel in the past, but nobody
nominated it this year. I know Densie stayed there in 2000 and we've
had people there off and on throughout the years.

One caveat, and this may be old news, but when you phone for your
reservation, get some assurance that you will be placed in the
Stratosphere itself. Newsgroup reports a while back said they were
overbooking on the weekends and placing their overflow at the
Thunderbird Motel, several blocks away.

From what I've heard, the rooms are clean and comfortable, but
nothing fancy. They say the buffet is usually non-toxic. :)

Biggest complaint I can remember regarding the Stratosphere was slow
elevators at check-out time.

The neighborhood is a bit dicey. Right on the edge of the "Naked City"
district. I also seem to remember a tale of one of our members buying a
toothbrush at the drug store there and stopping to drink Mogen David and
Galiano [sic] with some winos. :) I think they had Moon Pies too. :) :)

If you're into netlore, do some Googling and you'll find that the
Stratosphere has been the victim of some hilarious but good natured
(well, sorta) pranks involving a certain meat product, jello, and
forged maintenance signs. :) :) :)

Uh-huh we sure are. Sponsored by the same cast of characters who brought
you the 2006 Limo Tour, JoAnn, Annie, LeeAnna and Paula! :)

I've stayed at the Strat a few times. The rooms are not bad, and they
have safes in them so that you can lock up your extra ammunition, etc.

The only problem I've had was checking out on a Sunday. Every elevator
that came down was full, and I finally had to get on an up-bound
elevator, ride it all of the up to the top, and then stop on every floor
on the way down so that people could sigh and swear when they saw that
it was full. Some people were even camped out in the hall sleeping
while they waited for an elevator.

Thanks for the info girls........... we booked at the Strat because it
was a killer deal through Alaska Airlines, plus I like doing different
places on trips. Angie and I will be in Monday morning and flying out on
a redeye flight late Saturday night. Can't wait to meet up with you all
again and do the town, always a total blast.

Hey Keri: Hello. Still considering the dlvdisc. Can you tell me what the
Alaska airlines deal is?

What are the dates for the "Party in the Desert"?

What is it like to stay at the Stratosphere? After last year's party, I
heard comments that it was close to impossible to get up and down. LOL.
Too much compression on the elevators or something like that. Two years
ago, I stayed at the Luxor and got vertigo. LOL. Never had that problem
before. What are you looking at? 25/30 stories above the desert floor?
Higher? Sexy!

I'd love that! Well, whatever you can share would be great. I look
forward to meeting you there! For now, hugs, Deidre Robinson

Hey, thanks for the update/info. I'd be coming from the east coast so
Alaska Air flight won't be available to me.

Did we meet at SCC? I'm a blonde (short style) 6'2' with heels. Usually
wore dark skirts and blouses. Black slides with studs. Or Red slides
with platforms. Strike any chords? I went to the Southern Belle
Reception. Did you? Have a pic?

I'm trying to send pic for you. Of course, I'm on the SBS web site and
FemmeFever.com First, go to www.aol.group.com. Then click on Femmefever.
In photo section, scroll down to near the bottom. I'm Deidre 2 pics.

Hugs, Deidre
