Night of Soiled Doves

I see from the photos that the Chicken Ranch was the destination for the
Night of Soiled Doves. I was wondering why that venue was chosen? I
guess they are TV friendly? Is it a safe place to visit by oneself? What
about the Sheri's Ranch place down the road?

thank you for your time

First of all, a clarification for you or anybody who sees this thread.

The Night Of The Soiled Doves is strictly a social event, jointly hosted
by DLV and CR. No "business" of our participants is implied or expected.

>I see from the photos that the Chicken Ranch was the destination for
>the Night of Soiled Doves. I was wondering why that venue was chosen?

It began very innocently when one of our organizers had the idea of
stopping for a photo by the CR sign, kind of a humorous diversion from
one of our side trips, and phoned the manager asking if that would be
OK. One thing led to another and we were invited to an informal
reception up there, thus Night Of The Soiled Doves kind happened.

>I guess they are TV friendly? Is it a safe place to visit by oneself?

Let me speak very freely. They are a business. They are in business to
make money. If you desire the services they offer, which are legal to
offer in Nye County, Nevada then yes, they will be friendly to you.

It's their job to be friendly to you, very friendly. :)

>What about the Sheri's Ranch place down the road?

I've never been there. With the reception we've received at the CR, why
go anywhere else? I'm sure that if your money is green they would be
quite friendly too.

If you would like to visit CR but not "order from the menu", I might
suggest signing up for NSD at the next DLV this April.

If anyone wished to go to Sheri's Ranch they also offer individual
tours.

Tours are offered free and all you need to do is go there and say you
would like to see the premises. They will be happy to show you around.

One of the girls is selected and a brief tour is given. There is no
expectation of using the services but you may wish to leave a tip for
the tour. Also Sheri's ranch has a full service restaurant where the
public is welcome to dine.

Photos of most every activity, all years, are on the DLV web site.

Last time at the "ranch", we had way too many people. If Sheri's Ranch
would be willing to accomodate us in small groups, (5 or so), I think
that we would have a much better time.

Memories of the first trip...I think we had about 15, and we were all
able to go inside the bar, get some drinks, buy some stuff and talk to
the girls. I think I was dressed as a nun. That was much more pleasant
than the big outdoor BBQ thing the second year, which was the only place
that they could put us. We could have done that anywhere.

>Last time at the "ranch", we had way too many people.

The second (2005) NSD was definitely a let-down from the first. :( Too
many people and not enough participation by the hostesses.

The third (2006, which you missed) was the best NSD yet. It was limited
in size and held in the bar, just like in 2004, except it was longer and
better. :) Some of the "contractors" who were not on duty that night
made a special trip in for it. It was a party that was looked forward to
and enjoyed by all, as I'm sure the one in 2007 will be.

Actually, there were 36 of us, but we were the right size for the bar
area and there was quite a bit of good interaction between the groups.

>I think I was dressed as a nun.

You think? Don't you remember? :) Yes, you >>WERE<< dressed as a nun!

I will never forget the reaction one of my cow-orkers had as I was
showing some of the pics. :) "WHAT'S THAT NUN DOING IN THERE???!!!"

I'm sure this photo will refresh your memory. :)

All three NSDs also included (shameless plug) a commerative pin. The
first year was a dove, The second year was the 2005 black enamel dlv
logo pin. The third year was a 2006 sparkled red cloisonne dlv logo
pin. The pins were also available for anyone after NSD who didn't go.
Most, if not all of the 'contractors' who were there also looked forward
to getting a pin and a rose at that event. Some had all three pins for
the last 3 events there.

How about one of a nun getting a little bit frisky? :)
