That will go on as planned. Wednesday evening at the DelMar following
the Galiano Challenge.

I'm glad you reminded me! One of the most important events of DLV...how
could I forget?

For anyone new, who might have missed it last year, or wants to try it
again, the popular "Galiano Challenge" is a "go" again for 2005. This
is your chance to share in a tradition that finds its roots in DLV Lore
of 1998.

Out of all of the participants who had a preference for the Galiano
Challenge event last year, most said that it was their favorite DLV
activity. Here's how it works, for you newbies:

I go get your drink for you, but, I come back with two drinks. One will
have the usual booze in it, the other will be made with Galliano. Your
challenge is to tell me which drink is which. It's not quite was easy
as you might think!

Here are some Galiano Challenge results from last year:

Annie at the Spotlight (I think):

Flunked (as usual) Could not assert that the drink had Galliano in it.
Suggested that it might have been made with gin instead of vodka. She
also drank the Galliano, which is an automatic 'F'.

Michelle, at Goodtimes:

Flunked. She drank a Harvey Wallbanger, knowing that it was a Harvey
Wallbanger, and said that there was no Galliano in it. Later, she said
that she could taste the Galliano, but her answer had already been
recorded. She also drank the Galliano, which is an automatic 'F'.

Ginger, at Goodtimes:

Flunked. She provided the Harvey Wallbangers for herself and Michelle.
Voluntarily drinking Galliano is an automatic 'F'. In fact, Ginger said
that she prefers Galliano, which puts her in with Margeth*...neither of
them are eligible to take the Galiano Challenge anymore.

* and Annie, of course

So, yeah, you might THINK that it's easy, but, after you've had a few,
it gets more difficult. If you've really had a few, you might forget
which drink is which by the time you're done tasting them, and if I
think you're not drunk enough to take the test with a reasonable
expectation of failure, I will make the test more difficult in some way.
