Reminder - Call For Comments - DLV 2005 dates ...

Just a reminder here ... Two weeks remain in our Call For Comments
period regarding our proposed DLV 2005 dates, which are Sunday, April 24
thru Saturday, April 30.

Speaking very freely, last year we had some cases where people were
unhappy with the proposed dates, but failed to say anything until after
the Call For Comments period had expired. I don't want this scenario to
repeat this year.

So, if there are any further comments, positive or negative, in regards
to our proposed DLV 2005 dates, please speak now or forever ...

Thanks, gang. :)

Being retired, the dates are ok with me. Just thought I'd respond anyway so
ya know the message is read. :)

Reminder - Call For Comments - DLV 2005 dates ...

Well, it's always hard to predict that far in advance. Work schedules
and software release dates have been changing so fast the last couple of
years. The dates look good right now. I certainly hope to be there.

Certainly, you went through the usual checklist of known conflicts. I
just worry that so many are on summer vacation now and just not tuned in
to the mailings or to the calendar that far in advance. The ORG girls
are the ones who perhaps feel most passionately about DLV, so they're
right on top of the dates. Try to put yourself into the shoes of a
non-ORG DLV attendee. What do they like? What are their priorities?

Are they able to commit so far in advance?

Given the low levels of traffic on dlvorg and dlvdisc on any topic, I
just think we're in the dog days of summer. Is there a harm in waiting
until 9/15 or 9/30 to finalize the dates? So much can change so
quickly. Just ask the empolyees of the soon-to-be Hooters Hotel and
Casino.

Thanks,

-- Tina

I'm all in favor of these proposed dates.

Sincerely, ANYA, here in very hot and humid Las Vegas.

I am going to abstain from voting on next year's dates since I will be
unable to attend in 2005.

Two weeks after returning from this year's DLV, I was laid off from my
job after 18 1/2 years with the company. I won't have any vacation
time in reserve next spring (assuming I have found a new job by then;
if I haven't found a new job by then I will be in truly deep sh*t).

Unemployedly yours,

Mary Beth Cooper

There really isn't, unless you're lucky enough to own your own company.

The stand-up comedian Rich Hall has a great bit about all of this:

"Here's how to tell if you are rich, middle class, or poor - when you go
to work in the morning, if your name is on the building, you're rich.
If your name is on your desk, you're middle class. If your name is on
your shirt ---- you're poor."
