2017 Vegas tips.

Postby Katie Wilson » Tue Mar 14, 2017 10:19 am

This is a re post from a previous DLV. I thought I would revitalize it so that anyone either new to DLV or new to Las Vegas will have a game plan.

Things I would do if I was going to DLV 2017.

These hints are too often poo pooed by people as useless and consequently they regrettably get left out of planning a trip to Vegas for DLV but I found that they are extremely helpful.

1). Store the local telephone number of Whitlesea cabs ( 1 702 348 6111 ) or more than 1 cab or Uber company in your cell phone.
=============
**Reason being.= Cabs cannot stop for you by being waved down on the street in Las Vegas. It is illegal! They can only stop at a designated location. such as the one where you are or a hotel or residence etc'.
=============

2 ). Store the **local number** of your Hotel / Casino in your phone also. ( Flamingo ( 1 702 733 3111 ) This has been handy for me more than once for various reasons. You can do this prior to your vacation by looking for it on your specific Hotel web site.

3 ). You will have a handbag so why not utilize that space and **Carry a list of the DLV events and your planned side trips along with you so you can keep up with what may turn out to be a very busy week for you. Please remember if you have reserved a place in a limited event it is important to be there or at least let someone know if you can not. Others might be on a waiting list to do this and can be contacted by phone and they will be thrilled that you were courteous enough to phone and cancel.

4 ). If available keep one of the main DLV admins phone numbers in your cell storage area as you may need it if you have forgotten some of the above.

5 ). If you have rented a car and do not know Vegas very well then pick up a mini map of LV from the rental agency desk. ( They have heaps of these ).

6 ). Very Important.. Keep change in your purse at all times. $5's. $10's and especially a whole heap of single dollar bills. These will be handy for tips for a nice attentive cocktail waitress and the exact change for a cab ride + tip of course. Especially if the driver gets out and opens the door for you. **Wink**. Every Casino has change machines throughout their properties so I usually make a point of changing $100's into $20's..and $20's into heaps of singles, 10's and 5's at the beginning of the day or at the end of the previous one. You would be surprised at how quickly you run out of these in L V. Tips are important and having the right change +Tip for an unscrupulous cab driver who swears he has no change for a $ 20 bill for a $7 cab ride can quickly put him/ her in their place. IE:-- No Tip . *lol*.

7 ). If you arrive early in the day and are too early to check in then leave your bags at the bell desk. They will store them in a safe room for you for a small tip * ..$2:00 or something like that will do. This will enable you to check in pre 4PM and hence have them give you a call when your room is ready, and the added bonus of not having to lug your bags around all day in the trunk of your rental car then drag them through a busy hotel at check in time.

--------------
8). Whatever you do, Don't drink and drive. The cops hate that and it is one of the
things that Vegas a has a low tolerance for! so share a cab with one or
even 2 of the other ladies to and from a venue, It is more fun that way
anyway and cheaper too. ( Saving your $10's, $5's and 1's for times like
this comes in handy here too! Wink.

9). If you are ok with riding the Bus, Vegas has one of the best transit
systems I have ever used, You can get all over town. North, South, East
and West for $20 per 3 day pass, or about $7 per day if that suits you better.
Note.= >> Late at night get a cab The busses will be chocked full to the seams after 9PM till Midnight.

10). Dining for less. Unless you like high end dining for Breakfast,
Lunch and Dinner The locals Casinos are terrific especially for lunches
etc. the prices are way less than the strip casinos. Downtown is
particularly decent in this regard. (Locals Casinos are Off strip).
Here are just a few of the things that might interest you and hopefully
make your Vegas vacation a great one.

I am sure some of the other girls can add their 2cents here too Ok Yes, (Pun Intended).

11 ). Go to Katie's Koffee Korner 8AM each day and meet the lovely and talented Katie and Beverly.. **Nudge. Nudge**.

If anyone else has ideas to make someones DLV stay a memorable one please add to this list.

Up to now 26 people have taken the time to read this. Hopefully someone saw something helpful but we will never know if you don't tell us. So please go the extra 5 yards while you are still signed in to MY DLV and say if it helped or not!

I don't want to waste time and space here on MY DLV discussion if what I wrote did not help anyone because we already know that we often give too much info out which probably leads to boredom and that is when people put down the book and stop reading.

Just say That it helped and maybe you will use some of this or something like that.

or add a few words of Vegas advice of your own that might help others if you would like to.

Thanks,

I did not know that cabs cannot stop for you which could have been very frustrating. The change machine locations will help also.

One more tip. Sunscreen! It looks like the weather will be quite nice giving us a lot of exposure to the sun. Sunscreen is great at reducing your risk of skin cancer and dry skin. It's also a significant preventative for unintended outting of your TG week in Las Vegas. This is a particular risk if you will be wearing things cut differently from what you'll be wearing the rest of the summer. That cute deep vee cut top or those sandals will leave very distinctive tan lines you will have to live with for quite a while.

IF YOU'LL WANT SUNSCREEN, YOU'LL WANT  SUN GLASSES AS WELL. MAYBE/MAYBE NOT THIS TIME OF YEAR, BUT WE'RE CLOSING IN APRIL WHEN YOU'LL DEFINITELY BRING THEM.
