Some sad news to report ...

Postby annie » Fri Apr 15, 2016 7:18 am

It is with great sadness that I must report the passing of long-time DLV attendee and volunteer, Julie Carter.

Julie joined our program in 1999 and was instrumental in the founding of the Diva Las Vegas Invitational.

Julie was well-known in our community, a distinguished Veteran ("The Gunny"), and an avid golfer, a stand-out at our annual golf match.

The passing was cancer-related.

Julie is survived by SO Shari, son and daughter, and four grandchildren.

For those who may not immediately recognize the name, here are a couple of clear face shots:

If anyone wishes to be put in touch with the family, please write in (dlv@divalas.vegas) and we''ll pass on the message.

Of course I was thinking of Julie during our golf outing. She was always so much fun to be around on and off the course. She was a good golfer but also was able to just have fun while playing and not worrying about the score.
I had heard from her a few months back and she told me her health was worsening to the point that she would not be joining us at DLV again. We shared some laughs about past golf outings and fondly remembered the fun times. DLV was important to Julie and Julie was important to DLV. She will be missed by many.
Rest in peace my dear friend.
Love, Bev

Geez, I finally remembered who Julie was. I played with her at least
two years, maybe three. She was great. Terrific sense of humor. Very
sad news. Just very sad.

Thanks for sharing!

The family does prefer discretion, but if anyone would like to see the official obituary, email me (annie at annie dot net) and I will share the link.
