Attention Golfers

Postby Bev » Wed Dec 16, 2015 8:41 am

We may need to look for a different golf course for our golf outing this year. The management company for Wild Horse Golf Course is wanting to charge us more for the golf outing then we have paid the last two years.
So if you have a suggestion on a course you have played and liked let me know and I will contact that course.
Also for those who have played previously what is your limit on what you will pay to play? The last few years the WHGC charged us $72 for green fees, cart and lunch, and threw in club rental. This year they want to charge us $25 more for club rental. I know some bring their own clubs and would not be impacted by this but many of us have to rent clubs at the course. That would increase our cost to almost $100.
Please respond as soon as possible so we can get this finalized.

I'm not a golfer but I can give you some history and where the gang has played over the years.

For many years they used the Desert Rose Golf Course, which is way east on Sahara. Desert Rose was closed for renovations a few years back and that's why they switched to Wild Horse.

Prior to Desert Rose they played at the Las Vegas Golf Club, which is in NLV right across the street from the S&R estate.

Hope this helps.

I would suggest checking Desert Rose as they are supposed to be open
again after a massive makeover due to a flood control issue.

In your email you only mention the price hike is for club rental. So let me get this straight, you want to change golf courses because someone who chooses to not to bring their own clubs is going to have to pay $25 for rentals? For those of us bringing our clubs and in the past paying the same rate as those getting club rentals for free, now have to play at a different course because of this?

Jamie, I have no problem with paying for club rentals. But I want input from the other golfers before signing a contract. I know many of our golfers only play a few times a year and some only at this event. So cost could be a factor to them. I want to be fair to everyone and not push someone out of our activity because of cost.
For those of us unable to bring our clubs the cost of the round of golf would be over $95. Wild Horse GC has been very good to us the past two years and thrown in the rental clubs. This year a new person has taken over the corporate group that schedules and contracts golf outings at Wild Horse and several other courses. He is the one dictating the rental club fee. There may be a chance that when we get to Wild Horse that the manager there would once again throw in the clubs for free. But we cannot assume that is going to happen.
I personally would like to return to Wild Horse but I would like to get feed back from the other golfers before deciding. So here is their chance to let us know how they feel about this topic.

Does anyone know if and when Desert Rose GC is opening? I have not been able to find out that information. I have tried calling the course but have not been successful.

I have sent an inquiry to the management company that runs Desert Rose to
get an update on the opening. They were to have opened this fall.
