How did your Monday go?

Postby Katie Wilson » Fri Apr 10, 2015 10:13 am

Hi Gang.
I thought it might be better to talk about your DLV week on a daily basis instead of a long boring account of what I did for the whole all week to digest, so I thought that *A Day By Day approach** might be easier to read and probably a little more interesting too. So with that in mind ...Can someone else do ^^How did your Tuesday go?^^. All we need is a volunteer! *Wink*.

My DLV week started on Monday Morning at Katies Koffee Korner where around 11 ladies showed up looking all girly and really terrific! ( And We have the photos to prove it too I might add! )
After 1 hour or so at KKK Beverly and I strolled the Flamingo wedding gardens and snapped a few piccies for posterity there then we went over to a golf outlet to pick up some golf prizes for Tuesdays annual DLV Invitational.. We took the odd photo here and there every 10 minutes or so for posterity once more then did Lunch with.... at the Flam Buffet. After letting the Buffet staff know that we did not want a 1 mile long table and preferred a more spread out approach to lunch, they were happy to oblige and we had a nice easy lunch in comfort and didn't have to yell down a 30 ft table. ( Hopefully they followed that pattern for the rest of the week ).
Having to be at the Opener Orientation session hour at 4 PM, I played the slots at the Flam for 1 hour then in the early afternoon I showered and changed into evening wear for the Bahama Breeze. Bev drove me and 2 other girls over to the B/B social and we arrived with plenty of time to relax and have a drink or two before the action started.
Vera kicked off the orientation info session in fine fashion and I added a bit here and there in a foreign accent but hopefully and understandable one! I think the orientation was informative and no one seemed lost or left out so that makes me happy.

All in all my Monday went very well and my DLV week started off perfectly.

Tell us all about how Your Monday went girls!

Katie.

Ok, I'll play ...

Let's see here, Monday ...

Monday began for me very early in the morning, when I got back to the hotel and phoned in a wake-up call. Beverly said that I was "expected" at KKK that morning, since the CET reps were to be there, so I figured I should be there.

The wake-up call came much too early! I did not feel like getting up, but I just kinda made it happen. I somehow managed to get up, get ready, and stumble down to the casino. I was on my way in the general direction of Club Cappuccino when I noticed that there was ANOTHER Club Cappuccino located right next to the hotel desk. I ran into Beverly on my way to the REAL Club Cappuccino and she said that she was on her way to the satellite Club Cappuccino to steer anyone hanging around there to the correct one.

We had KKK outside in the Habitat area, but kept an eye out for those inside who may be looking for the group.

It was a nice gathering, but too early! I do try to make one KKK each year, to support the concept and support those who are putting it on, but it is a challenge. :) I then returned upstairs to give the insides of my eyelids a good inspection! :)

I woke up a few hours later, got ready again, and kind of casino surfed for a while and ended up on the very north end of the Strip at SLS and Westgate. I did lunch at the new coffee shop at Westgate, which is actually very good but not cheap by any means. By then it was almost time for the Wig Seminar over at Spotlight, so I took a taxi over there.

We had a great turnout for the Wig Seminar, 33 if my count is correct. The presentation was informal and informative. Spotlight is also a very nice (since the remodel) and relaxing place. I had a left-over drink chip from a previous visit, so I had my one and only drink for the price of a tip. :)

I bummed a ride back to the hotel, got cleaned up a bit, and then met Beverly and Debbie to go down to Bahama Breeze. I had to make kind of a side trip to Kinko's (just north of BB) so I wandered over there as they were setting up for the Newcomer Orientation.

We had 20-some for the Newcomer Orientation, and I kind of tried to stay out of the way. :)

Bahama Breeze was good as usual but there were a few issues and some miscommunications.

Drink service was abysmally slow! :( They did not have a bartender in the Gazebo Room bar, and the servers were dispatching drink orders to the main bar. It took FOREVER to get drinks! :(

There was also some kind of a foul-up regarding the musician for the evening, who never showed up. This also meant that we did not have a regular microphone for announcements and such. The staff found a microphone in a closet, and attempted to get it set up on the main speakers, but could not do it. Beverly and I found a powered speaker, which worked, but just did not have the "ooomph" to cover the entire room and the crowd of 103 which we had.

We did the annual Official Group Photo without too much grumbling, and the crowd kind of trickled out after that, with some die-hards staying at the main bar for a while. :)

We had a great turnout at Paris following BB, 30-some IIRC, or close to 1/3 of the number we had at Bahama Breeze. The band Envy played. It looked like they had a lineup change from when I last saw them, but the very distinctive bassist and lead singer were still with the group.

I finally faded, made it back to the room, and crashed. :)

How did my Monday go?

I think it was about Monday when I realized I should of just spent the air fare and joined you all.

Also, I know I didn't make it but is there any way I can look at the pictures, even if only as a guest?

I had to get one tire on my Jeep fixed Monday morning. It seemed best to do that in guy mode and they did only fix the tire and honor the warranty, so I guess that worked out. From there I did a little thrift store shopping where I scored a cute pair of silver sandals, a top and the dress I wore to Trevi on Friday. That was followed by a quick stop at a grocery where I got room food, drink and makeup sponges. Until I left on Saturday morning, that guy didn't leave the room the rest of the week, it was all Sarah after that.

Back to the room and I had time to shower, shave and dress for the Wig Seminar at the Spotlight. Good group there and I have to mention the staff and regulars at the Spotlight treated us very well. Wendy and Michelle who did the seminar are from the Salt Lake area, like me, so it was nice to see them out of their normal element. I stayed late making sure they got all their stuff loaded up and then returned to my hotel to get ready for Bahama Breeze.

As always BB was a great place to circulate and touch base with people I've missed for the last year. For some, this would be the only chance I got to see them. The food was good and it was difficult to get an adult beverage, but the company more than made up for it. The group photo was an excellent example of not just herding cats, but trying to teach them to square dance. Still it worked, I think.

I'd had a long couple of days leading up to this and following the gathering at BB I returned to my hotel, spent 40 minutes to an hour in the casino and then went to bed.
