Things I would do if I was going to DLV 2015.

Most of us have cell phones with cameras now. I've used a couple of
tricks to find my car both in those big parking structures and in
expansive airport parking lots. One is to take a photo of the painted
pillar or row sign nearest the car and save it. The other is to send
yourself a text message with the location. With a rental car you may
want to take a photo of the car and license plate just to be safe.

Can we talk about shoes? There are a few hazards that can ruin an
otherwise wonderful trip and blisters or hammer toes are self-inflicted
injuries that can be avoided. Even the shoes you love the most need to
be tested on hard surfaces if you have only worn them on carpet. I've
ended a night or two walking barefoot (frowned on by the
security/liability guards) because the shoes I had weren't up to the
challenges of the evening. There are also several casinos that have
slick cobble floors in some areas that often allow a small hard heel to
slip unexpected. Be aware of the surface you are walking toward to avoid
a twisted ankle. Pack at least one pair of very comfy shoes that you
know will help your tired tootsies recover or protect them when you
don't absolutely have to be at the height of fashion.

Great advice on the "where did I park my car" topic. That happened to me just last year. On the last day I walked out into the parking structure and had no clue where I had parked the night before. I had been in and out of that place many times that I could not remember even what side, let along what level, I was on. I tried walking around with the key fob setting off the alarm. But there was so much echoing in there I couldn't even tell what direction it was coming from.
So I will be taking photos from my phone this year EVERY TIME I park my car. Thanks ladies.

I use the app on my Smartphone for taking notes to post the location of
my car...sometimes you just don't have pen and paper handy.

geewiz, me too.
I couldn't find my rental car at the Fashion Mall parking structure. The security guard on bicycle asked me what kind of car is it?
a grey Honda civic...Good Luck!
I handed him the key fob and he rode around clicking it at every car he went past until he located it.
He got a tip from me for that exercise.

Plan, Practice & Pack for DLV
Part of the fun with DLV is planning my wardrobe for each day. I plan out my calendar of events then plan daytime casual wear versus dressy evening wear. Then, I practice to see what works by trying on each outfit and seeing what each outfit needs to make it work better; jewelry, scarf, lingerie and, of course, the right shoes (;-o)) With two outfits per day, that's a lot of work but it's what gurls must do to look fabulous! I also try to shop local when in Vegas to find some essentials, including makeup at Bare Minerals, for example.

**Packing a wig or two** in that already overcrowded suitcase!

If you are taking more than one wig and I am sure you will be.
I use shower caps to carry them in. You now the ones which no one ever uses in hotel rooms? ., I keep these for traveling instead and they take up no space at all in a suitcase. and my hair needs brushing after traveling anyway so why pack it all groomed up for use in a box?
I also carry my jewelry in zip lock bags sometimes when I have a space problem too!
I normally use a fishing tackle box with dividers in which can be arranged to accommodate larger jewelry items such as watches and bracelets etc' but the zip lock bags which come in all sizes from 6" square and larger to 1'x 2" for earrings can be found in stores such as Hobby Lobby are very handy. When I am driving the fishing box gets used for the jewelry as space is not a problem and I do not have to worry about the suitcase being pilfered but when I am flying I always carry the jewelry with me personally in a carry on bag so the zip lock bags come in very handy for this.

Jeez I hope all this info is helping someone? *lol*.

Katie.

Since Katie asked I will tell my story. Several years ago while in Vegas I pulled into the parking structure and just inside there was an orange pylon in a corner parking space. I didn't pay much attention to it until I left that day I saw it was still there. So when I came back later and saw the pylon hadn't moved I got out of my car, moved the pylon to the side and parked my car in that space. For the rest of the week I repeated that action, using the pylon to 'reserve my space'. I had my own private space all week long! Never had to worry about finding my car either. Maybe I should pack an orange cone in my suitcase this year!
I will also echo the tip on using plastic bags for jewelry. I sort my jewelry according to what outfit I am planning on wearing it with then put it in a plastic bag. I put the bag with the outfit when packing. When I hang up the clothes in the hotel I put the plastic bag on the hanger. That way when I pull the outfit out of the closet the jewelry is right there with it. That really helps when I am in a rush, which I often am at DLV. The same could be done with hosiery and other accessories if desired. Cuts down on the amount of time looking for things as well as having to decide what to wear.

I'm surprised nobody has brought up valet parking on this thread yet. :)
