I booked The Flamingo for my whole week today so I will not be moving en masse during the week.

A note to all **Caesars Total Rewards members** .. The policy of no resort fees for Platinum members is now finished, We have to pay the fees now.

This practice apparently ceased in mid November on bookings for next year. Sad but true. Ho hum, Life goes on.

Where to Stay during DLV2015

Since I drive to DLV and will have a car, I don't mind staying off the Strip.

I've stayed at Palace Station a dozen times or more and while it's older
and the courtyard rooms are kind of small, I've always been comfortable
and treated well there. Cab rides to the center of the Strip are
affordable and if you don't mind, they have a free shuttle as well.
Thru Vegas.com I found a rate of $25.00 a night until Friday where it
goes up to $90. An average of less than $35 a night for DLV. Yes,
there is a resort fee and it stands at $15 a night and includes wifi.
Overall, it stays within my budget, so I'll be over there.

Sarah

Hey have any of you ever stayed at Desert Rose Resort.

One block from strip near airport. Good? No good?

I have never personally stayed there, but I have seen two of the units used by previous DLVers.

> One block from strip near airport. Good? No good?

It's probably much closer to the Strip than the "one block" claimed by such places as Tuscany, but it's still long compared to most city blocks. It's immediately behind Hooters, nee' San Remo.

The units are true suites, as opposed to large rooms that they call suites. They do have a separate bedroom, at least the units I saw did. They have what I would call an efficiency kitchen.

The big minus for me would be no casino, and I don't think they have a restaurant on prem either.

It would be maybe a 3-4 city block length walk to the MGM Monorail station, so it is reasonably close to a single seat to the main part of the Strip.

I'm sure the price is higher for this place than for center Strip hotels, but we've actually had quite a few people stay there and like it.

I stayed there twice, three and four years ago. It was very convenient
- no lobby or/and casino to walk through. I had a car, and was able to
park it right outside one of the many gated entrances. They did serve a
complimentary breakfast, too. I stopped going there when the rates were
jacked up too high. Have no idea how they price them now.

The rooms were really an efficiency apartment, with a complete bedroom,
bath and closet, living room and efficiency kitchen. Nice size.

But the walk to the Strip is more like a hike. And be sure not to face
Hooters - the pool scene is loud, as I recall.

This was $92 per night, cheaper than Flamingo when you consider resort fees.

What about the MardiGras? Their 1 block from strip by convention center. Never heard of them but I need some help if I make it this year.

> What about the MardiGras?

We've had DLVers stay there off and on over the year. No major issues that I'm aware of. It's really a big motel, kind of like the Super-8 at Ellis Island, except Ellis Island has a much larger casino. It's aging. Don't expect a mint on the pillow. :)

> Their 1 block from strip by convention center.

They are by the Convention Center, but anyone who thinks they are one block from the Strip is on drugs!

They are a fairly easy walk, maybe 2-3 city blocks, from the Monorail.

They will probably give you a lot of bang for buck, but they are kind of out of the way and somewhat downscale.

I stay at the Mardi Gras quite often - when it is price competitive -
they have a $5.00 resort fee now I think.

I don't do casinos - or much on the strip but I find the Mardi Gras very
convenient for me - since I always have a car I can stop into my room
for a quick freshen up when driving from the Fruit Loop to places on
Charleston and Sahara and vice versa. Overall I find it a very
convenient location. My last stay there was Halloween 2014.
