Last year, I did get a price dip on Black Friday. It wasn't huge (as I
recall, about $8 per day) but it "paid" for dinner one night.

Circus Circus seems to have some good rates, although I'm not finding a
$19 rate. Has anyone stayed there ?

I've never stayed there, but we've had DLVers stay there off and on from the very early days. No major issues that I am aware of.

I've eaten there a few times. The steakhouse is surprisingly good. The buffet is (or was, I have never been back to see if it improved) totally gross.

I've been hearing that Circus is now promoting themselves to the LGBT community. This is somewhat surprising, since they have historically promoted themselves as a "family friendly" property.

Circus and Riviera have kind of been on an island since they blew up the Stardust and the Frontier. Until they finally get something in there in the vacant former Stardust tract, business will most likely remain poor for Circus and Riviera.

I was checking LV rates Sun when inSan Jose. CC wasw the lowest at $25.
Got into town and ckd some others and finally went to CC. At ck in was
offered $29 in one of the towers asked about the net rate and the motel
units in back and we go to $19 per night. If I stayed over next weekend
told the rate would go up for those nights

Always read the fine print.
This is a rarity in Las Vegas but around 5 years ago we stayed at The Riv and the fine print showed that there was a **Cancellation Fee** attached to the reservation. so beware!.... Most other Vegas Casinos have a prior 72 hour free cancellation policy . .We were not going to cancel anyway and the rooms were free for 3 days so I booked it.

The Riviera was an ok stay for me, I thought that their restaurants were quite decent, Their staff were friendly and very accepting of me in my various ensembles. The drinks came quite fast in the casino and the waitresses were great. The parking is easily accessed and there is plenty of space close to the rear entrance which was well lit. The Buffet is not bad but certainly Not what you might call Good either, I thought it was over priced for their very limited menu selections but the food was fine and if you are not picky it will do.

If you are planning on using the CAT Public Transit Bus system then be prepared for crowded busses after 6PM, This is likely one of the busiest stops on the Strip for some reason.

The only other casino close by is the Circus. Which is a Zoo, Not a circus and is awful. The casino is run down and If you are thirsty do not play the slots...You will wait all day for a waitress.
I still get freebies offered but I stay clear of the Riv now.

Katie.

I stayed at the Riviera for the very first DLV, back in 1997. At the time it was very nice.

Back then the strange thing I remember is at the desk they made you sign a thing saying that you would not have pizza delivered to the room. No, I am not kidding.

The strangest fee I ever ran into was the early check-out fee. I've seen it on packages at both the Plaza downtown and the old LV Hilton. If you checked out a day or more early for some reason, they would ding you $50, IIRC.

The Riviera buffet used to be very good. I have not eaten there for over 10 years now, so I don't have any current perspective on it. The one thing I do recall at the Riviera buffet was, one Sunday morning during DLV, two couples discussion the Frank Marino Show the night before and making note of the "girls" (DLVers) in the audience. :) :)

"I wonder if the hotel pays them to do that." and "I think about half of them were real girls." were two lines I remember. :)
