Linda.

I am glad you mentioned the correlation factor as I had been thinking
that it would be interesting for us to take a Group survey by
researching why it happened to so many of us.
-------------------------------------------------------------

I am very careful to Always wash my hands after touching door handles
etc too and *Always* before dining and have not had the flu or anything
like it for 3 years till now. .

My wife was with me the whole week and she returned home with the Bug
too! She did not attend any DLV outings so our places of interest can
be ruled out.

I stayed at Harrah's. I did not swim in their pool
nor dine in any of their restaurantsl. I Did play their slots a lot though.

I used an Alamo National rental car to get around and I did not use the
public CAT Transit system this time at all.

I would like to see what we all did that caused us as a group to be
unwell at the same time so anyone who felt off color or under the
weather at the end of the DLV week or very shortly after please add your
thoughts.

Mine started Thursday so I am assuming it was
something I did Wednesday or before but I was fine till' Thursday Morning.

Katie.

Illness at DLV 2014

I was hit with the bug Thursday afternoon and it got progressively worse
Friday. It's probably a GI flu bug going around because I know a lot of
people from different areas of the country that got it. It was not
limited to the Vegas area.

On the other hand, I discovered that Imodium AD works amazingly well
with just one dose.

So Sorry to hear about all the problems but as many have said, in a City
that big, with that many tourists, things are bound to happen! I didn't
make DLV but will be coming to town in mid May so this story intrigued
me enough to do a little searching. Here are a couple of links that
might be illuminating.

That's got to be what I had then.

Doc said it was probably virus. That explains it. Thanks for posting.

Good catch, thanks.

I did searches earlier this week and did not find anything relevant, except for some outbreak reports from last October. Many of the symptoms our people reported point to this as a strong possibility.

The norovirus outbreak explains the gastrointestinal illness but not the cold and flu-like symptoms. I wonder if those were experienced only by people who traveled by air and had the misfortune of having someone on their flight who was coughing and/or sneezing a lot. This happened to my girlfriend who, coincidentally, returned home from Wichita on Sunday, March 30. Two days later, she was coughing, etc. and still isn't over it. Seven years ago, returning from Hawaii, I got one of the worst colds in my life from a stranger sitting next to me who was coughing and hacking throughout the entire flight. It's about time that the airlines require people like this to wear a mask if they can't stop them from flying

I do remember a few people reporting colds and such toward the beginning of the week, which definitely could have been this.

Depending on who you listen to, the incubation period of a common cold can range from several hours to a few days, so the thing that both I and Michelle got could not have been from air travel. It very well could have been passed on by someone who got it on the plane.

They will probably never be able to get the contagious folks off of the planes. This is one reason I always wash my hands thoroughly immediately after deplaning. Planes (as well as about any place where hundreds of people are cooped up) can be a hotbed of septic yuck.

Annie,

Just to help complete the "survey", I flew in from PA and was ill at the
end of the week. I was not as badly off as some who have written, mine
was more being extremely tired, a ringer of a headache, and joint ache.

It passed in a few days - about 3 or 4 , as I recall. Perhaps there was
something potent going around, as I don't get sick all that often.

I fell I'll afterwards myself. It hit me on my drive home. Flu like symptoms. But in large groups of people this can be expected. I had a blast though. It was great meeting so many nice people.
