Good Morning,

I'll be staying (for the 1st time at the Imp Palace).

Last year I stayed at the San Remo. Are there any Point of contacts or
rules regarding the IP ?

I know that there was a preferred unisex bathroom on the 1st floor at
the SR...

Thanks,

Diane

(DLV organizer's hat on) No, we have no established relationship with IP
other than the fact that our people have been guests of theirs each year
since 1997. If you wish to contact IP management regarding DLV, please
coordinate your efforts thru the ORG group. (DLV organizer's hat off)

My personal advice to you (IANAL, advisory only, DLV organizer's hat
definitely off) is don't ask, don't tell, don't be obvious, fly under
the radar, and follow the behavior and restroom guidelines to the
letter.

IMAO, if you are staying at the IP, you already have convenient
facilities, in your room, and those should be used unless there are
compelling reasons to use public facilities.

AFAIK there have been zero incidents at the IP. Closest I can recall is
a report of a spooked room service delivery guy who caught one of our
people between modes during a delivery. :) :) :)

History has shown that if you dress and act as a lady or gentleman (or
both at times) you will be treated as such.

I didn't have any problems when I stayed there for DLV '98. I think
Margeth and Cassie stayed in the back section, which was more like a
motel and you didn't have to go through the casino to get in.

IIRC, there is a tour bus entrance at the side that gets you to the
elevators without having to go through much casino. If you can stand
the smell of rotting fish and garbage on your way around the corner,
that might be easier.

If your experience at the San Remo was anything like ours, the IP will
be a major upgrade for you.

Yes, and that was where Margeth spooked the room service d00d. :)

I've seen both the tower and the motel rooms, and the tower rooms
are much nicer. I think some of the front ones actually have a little
balcony.

The big complaint about the IP seems to be slow elevators, particularly
at check-out time. One trick I figured out is that there is a not so
well known single elevator toward the northeast of the maze of hotel
towers. This is quite fast compared to the two main banks of elevators.

Somebody else on the newsfroup reported this too. Apparently it happens
whenever Flamingo Wash overflows right after a good rain, and all kinds
of muck is washed in to the ground level of the parking structure and
the driveway to the north of the building.

Hey Laura,

I hope all of you are returning this year! I really enjoyed visiting
with you at Monterey Bay whild waiting for the tea party!

You all looked so elegant in your hats! I think I owe one or two of you
a drink!

Hugs,

We had a group of 7 at DLV 2002 at the Imperial Palace, all from Canada.
Nobody had any complaints about smells, noise, elevators or anything else.
We had a great time, especially in the bar at the front of the hotel from 4
to 6 p.m. each night for happy hour.

Oh, yes, I had forgotten about that one! There is rarely ever anyone
else on it.

Hi All,

The first year I went to DLV, I stayed at the IP. I found it to be in
bad condition, had the most difficult access and the slowest elevators
in the world, other than that it was fine....

The next year I stayed at the Bellagio and the next in the Clarion
Suites. The Bellagio was great but way expensive and a long trio in and
out. The was easy to access, inexpensive and the staff was most
accomodating.

Love ya,

Gina

There are currently 8 registrants listed as staying at the Imperial palace.
