Ladies and friends,

Just wanted to say real quickly that my prayers go out to Roy Horn of
Siegfried & Roy. Being mauled by one of his tigers at last night's show was
truly trgaic. I'm sure some of your ladies have seen Roy's performance in
the past and sincerely hope we can send our wishes as a group for his speedy
recovery.

Anyway, what I wanted to say was that I really do hope the ladies who cannot
make DLV this year can resolve their bad feelings towards the group. I say
group to include the organizers. Excuse my French here, but I'm not trying
to kiss anyone's ass when I say they have done a fantastic job, and will
continue to do so in future DLV's. And that is because they did "step up to
the plate" when they were needed. And that is a fact of life: those who
"jump in and roll up their sleeves to do the work" make the decisions! I was
considering "stepping up" this year but held back until the dates were set.
This was because I knew I would not be able to attend DLV 04 if it was going
to be held during "finals week" at the University of Arizona, which as it
turns out, will be the case. I'm glad I didn't "step up to that plate" and
commit because then I would have felt even worse to have to decline my offer
to help or organize some event. But, I did do my civic duty and I voted. It
turns out that not enough people voted for the dates that I voted for. And
that I have to accept.

I won't deny this didn't upset me. It upset very much because I knew I would
be forced to make a choice that I hoped I did not have to make. In being
forced to make that choice I was angered because I knew "Rosada" would not
be able to do her once-a-year fling with the best group of gals that she has
had the pleasure to associate with. And I mean that from the bottom of my
heart (or the heart of my bottom, which ever).

Now, it upsets me to hear all this bickering and "bitching" going on back
and forth. First, it was about the "nun controversy" and then the "Mother's
Day thing". Please ladies, let's just drop this arguing once and for all
before someone says something they will come to regret. Some pretty nasty
jabs have already been flung. Just come to the realization that some of us
can't make this year's DLV, and with that, wish those that can the best
time and hope they remember us while they're out having a grand old time.
Have a drink for us, maybe several drinks. We'll join them the following
year!

That is all I wanted to say,

Rosada

Siegfried and Roy show?

Can someone in LV confirm this.....

News locally here are saying that the Siegfried and Roy show may be now
part of LV history. 125 employees of the show were let go, and all
reservations till the end of the year has been cancelled. Roy also went
again under surgery to relieve pressure on the brain. I also hope for
his speedy and complete recovery. The injuries based on the type of
sugery confirms that the tiger's injury was to the head and neck of Roy.

You are correct. The show has been cancelled at least thru 2003, and
indefinitely after the new year. MGM has advised all show staffers to
pursue other options, whether with MGM-Mirage or elsewhere.

Both the _LVRJ_ and the _Sun_ are reporting Roy's condition as guardedly
optimistic, critical but stable. He is responding to verbal commands.
NBC is reporting he is still on a ventilator and he may suffer some
brain damage due to some mild stroke conditions after the attack.

There's a lot of discussion on this from all angles, some not very nice,
in the alt.vacation.las-vegas newsfroup.

Hi :

The report is true. The show is definitely canceled through the end of
the year. Roy is still in critical condition the injuries are
compounded by a stroke suffered on the operating table.

The report her in Las Vegas is that the number of employees let go
including those involved in support roles such as ticket sellers, bar
service advertising, etc., was upwards of 175.

The only good news I have heard is that he is responsive to Dr.
questioning.
