They (we) (you?) are anyone who wants to step forward and organize an
activity.

It's special for some people, but not for all. I am married and have
two children at home and it means very little to me.

Would it be fair to say that because Halloween is special to me, it is
special to everyone? Would the enormous amount of time and money that
is put into Halloween every year do anything at all to make you see
things my way? Probably not. When we voted on the dates, we were all
aware of Mother's Day and it just wasn't a major concern.

Perhaps we should move the golf event to Mother's Day? That might give
us more time on the green.

Those of us who are organizing activities HAVE to be there, which is why
we have to agree on the dates. We can't set them around the schedules
of those of you who can show or not show at your leisure.

I mean nothing personal by this, but you sound like the people who gripe
about politics but don't vote, and the people who gripe about being poor
but refuse to try to better themselves. There is no aristocracy
here...it's a vacation and it is what we make of it. If you want to
join the organizers, then organize an activity and step up to the plate.

There is no such goal, nor is there a "DLV" in the sense that you are
making it out to be. We have no goals. We are a group of friends going
on a vacation together, and you are more than welcome to join us, but
please don't try to drag us down.

> Why not just be
> honest and say "your opinion doesn't matter, go away".

OK. "Your opinion doesn't matter, go away". Actually, I am happy to
hear your opinion. What I can do without are the negative comments,
threats that we are going to reduce the growth of DLV, etc. If you want
to buck authority, please find another venue.

You are invited to attend DLV. If I invited you to my house, would you
complain that if I didn't change the color of my furniture, I wouldn't
receive nearly as many guests?

How would you feel if I made such a comment in your house?

Suppose I inivited you to help me pick out the furniture and you weren't
willing to put out the effort? How would I feel if you still complained
about the color?

> I think the organizing committee will come
> to regret these dates.

Why don't you just threaten to shoot us, while you're at it?
