OK, we don't get out much and hear that Chicago is "The Windy City". Does the wind always blow?

While the wind here is average oe slightly above if you're near the
lakefront, the name comes from windbag politicians in a bygone age, not
the weather :)

Yes, it can be breezy, particularly in autumn. ("Cooler by the Lake.") :)

However (comma), that's not the most commonly cited origin of the "Windy City" term. :)

Researching the origin and history of the term will be left as an exercise for the student. Be prepared for endless debate and endless "No! You're wrong!" threads. :) :) :)

But seriously, we've mostly had decent weather throughout the history of Pinkfest.

We're meeting a few weeks earlier this year than we have in the past, so statistically we can expect it to be a degree or so warmer. We can probably expect highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s.

Once in our history we had one Sunday that was uncomfortably warm in the afternoon (90+) and one time I actually saw it snow when riding the train from the airport to the hotel. These are, of course, rare exceptions.

We have had a few breezy bad hair days on occasion.

The average temperature in Chicago the last week of September is in the
low 70s. I think September is the best month of weather in Chicago- the
weather is usually very mild and pleasant. And yes, the Windy City name
came from New York commentators in reference to the wind bag politicians
- not the actual weather... September is actually a less windy month
than average in Chicago.
