We need to seriously consider the Billy Goat Tavern for the off-beat and
the nice, but not quire upscale place Laura took me a couple of years
ago after the fiasco with the waiter and the inappropriate and unwelcome
attendee down near the river.

That sounds like fun! :) Probably a good replacement for Ed. D's.

I actually do know where the place is, but for some reason I've never eaten there. We will need to very explicitly note how to get there. :)

I have always enjoyed stopping at Billy Goat's for a burger and a beer.
Still reasonably priced for being near North Michigan Ave. you just walk
down the steps in front of the Wrigley Building and you cannot miss it.

For a little character, interesting decor, and good food, try Portillos,
which also has a location in that area.

If you're not interested in the sort of Chicago staples of beef and
sausage (and excellent chocolate cake) that they serve, their complexes
usually have a secondary serving station/restaurant with dinner type
fare.

And, for pizza, there is still Lou Malnatti's, Giordanos, Uno/Due, and
other local joints of interest all within walking distance.

Portillos is one of my faves in the area for casual food. I particularly like that one (same for the one in Des Plaines) because it's a combined Portillos/Barnellis and has a great selection all under one roof.

For one Pinkfest, Ginger and I were both a day early and we did the Portillos on Clark and Ontario. We discussed using it for Pinkfest, but thought that the exposure of ordering in person at multiple counters may be a bit too much for our people who are newer to public exposure.

My fave of that ilk is Giordanos, with Gino's (which we've used for Pinkfest several times) a close second.

My last time at Malnati's (not during Pinkfest) I did have a GI issue shortly after, but in all fairness it may or may not have been due to the food.

Another one I like in the area is Carson's. For Pinkfest 2001 we did the then-open Carson's up at Clark and Ridge before hitting the Boystown bars.

Hello dear Annie, You have the best views in regards to places to go and
eat and hang out! Portillos is a big favorite of mine. I am very close
to the one on DesPlaines Ave. and Rosevelt Rd.in Forest Park. Never had
a bad meal there.

Say hello to Ginger and hope to see you both one of those days. Hugs
and lots of smiles, me over here. (BY THE WAY, I AM STILL IN BUSINESS,
DOING MAKEOVERS, TEACHING COSMETIC TECHNIQUES AN HAVE A LOYAL AND LOVING
BEAUTIFUL CLIENTS. Someone said they heard I died!! Hey, I ain't dead
yet! :) )

Dinner Recommendation - Carnivale Chicago

Postby External Poster » Sun Apr 26, 2015 10:12 pm

I'd like to recommend Carnivale for a dinner night during the week and
not Friday or Saturday because the place is crazy busy on weekends.

I've been there several times and my guests and I thoroughly enjoyed
ourselves.

Great atmosphere, food, drinks and entertainment at times. Located just
west of downtown and little north of Greektown.

Another one in River North that just opened that may be worth trying is Shake Shack. (Yeah, I know it's a chain but it's good.) The one on Fulton Mall has beer and wine so I assume the Chicago one does too.

Janna,

Thanks for your post and great to hear from you. You and I, others we
know, and many others we don't know, are hanging in there and doing
better the longer we go! I like to think there are beautiful women of
all ages.

Thanks for all you have done for our community, continue to do, and will
do for many years to come!

Very cool the fountain is running again at the Walnut Room after all
these years.

Pinkfest has had lunch here a couple of times.
