Here is an alert that I have not seen before -- The Chicago Marathon is
Saturday, October 12, starting from Grant Park, sorry I was not able to
find the starting times, but the full route opens to vehicular traffic
after 6 hours and 30 minutes, but in rolling segments parts will open
earlier. We may need to take this into account for activity planning.

First I am very much for seeing Evil Dead and looking forward to it, but
here are some additional suggestions should we want more than one major
entertainment/cultural event.

Thursday Oct 9 1:30 pm - MAHLER 5 Symphony Orchestra, Jaap van Zweden
conductor, Robert Chen violin

Friday Oct 10 8:00 pm AHMAD JAMAL, Chicago Symphony Center, Jamal is an
acclaimed Jazz Pianist

Sunday Oct 12 3:00 pm MAHLER 5, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Jaap van
Zweden conductor, Robert Chen violin

3:30 pm Sunday Apollo Theater - Million Dollar Quartet - Now in its
eighth year in Chicago, the smash-hit musical inspired by the famed
recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis
Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for one night
only is still drawing in audiences. As of 2013, it is Chicago's longest
running show! Be prepared to rock out to classics from the Quartet such
as "Blue Suede Shoes", "Fever," "That's All Right," "Sixteen Tons,"
"Great Balls of Fire," "Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," and
"Hound Dog,

6:30 pm Sunday Apollo Theater - Million Dollar Quartet, Repeated

Note: Million Dollar Quartet is also on the other Pinkfest days.

The Chicago Marathon has occurred a couple of times during Pinkfest with no impact at all to our event. In fact, Pinkfest was on during the Marathon that one year when they had the fatality.

I would definitely be interested in this one. I've heard good things about it but never seen it. Apollo is very easy to get to without a vehicle.

Marathon Alert and some entertainment/cultural suggestions for consideration including afternoon and early evening performances

You got the date correct, the day wrong on the marathon. It's always on
the Sunday before Columbus Day. And, yes, it's pretty impossible to get
anywhere by road in the inner part of the city where it is run, at least
before noon. Buses run, but have severe detours. The L, of course, is
not surface level so is fine. It is a fun event, however, to attend.
Pick a neighborhood which it passes through and go stand along the
sidewalk, cheering on the runners. It's like a little community party
in each of the areas.
