I would love to thank you all for your answers. The thoughts about
flying answered many questions that I had. I don't know if it will help
me but at least its something to think about.B B

Elena I also like the idea of the Chi chapter and Putting on the Ritz. I
would love to dress up in something pretty and go out. I love dresses
but as was mentioned acting my age so jeans and flats would be more
appropriate.

The thoughts about the newcomer reception sound great but that seems to
be covered as well with the Chi chapter and DLV.

So not to bore all of you but thanks for the help. I do want to start
going out dressed up(even if it means jeans) and I like the idea of
"small steps"

Bobbi,

How to dress "appropriately" is not always easy to figure out. Even
genetic women sometimes have trouble getting it right.

We need to think about what is appropriate for both the situation, our
age and our figure. Jeans are fine for shopping in a store but not for
going to a wedding or a fancy party. A 21 year old is more likely to
look good in mini dress or skinny jeans than a 65 year old. As women get
older, they are more likely to wear clothes with lower hem lines, higher
neck lines and/or looser fitting clothes. Also women who shall we say
are less physically fit are more likely to wear clothes with greater
coverage and/or looser fitting. Most women try to find clothes that look
flattering on them.

Finding your own personal style is important and we each have our own.
At Pinkfest, Ginger wore dresses most of the time. Annie wore jeans. I
wore a dress once and jeans other times depending on where I was at. We
all felt fine with what we were wearing and that is what is most
important.

Generally t-girls like to wear more dresses and fancy clothes than
genetic women. I think that is probably because we have to wear drab
clothes a lot. At an event like Puttin' on the Ritz, most people are
dressed up wearing dresses or at least a nice top and slacks.

Hi Bobbie,

There a couple of things happening this weekend that you might be
interested in. One is a local support group, Chi Chapter, is having our
monthly meeting. A couple of our members will be entertaining us by
playing music and singing. It will be in a very safe place at the Oak
Brook Doubletree Hotel (1909 Spring Road, Oak Brook). I am proud to be
president of Chi Chapter. Learn more about us at
http://chi-chapter.org/

The other is the pride festival. A number of big name entertainers
including Jennifer Hudson will be playing there. It is in Chicago in
Boystown at Halsted between Addison and Grace.
