By coincidence, Ginger and I were talking about this yesterday. We
agree that we should set the dates ASAP.

Let's call the question.

Are any weekends in October particularly good or particularly
bad for anyone?

The weather in Chicago is always better in early October than later. It
can start cooling off pretty quickly that month. You can sometimes get
lucky with an Indian summer those first two weeks of October.

Southern Comfort Conference in Atlanta is September 20 - October 5 this
year. Fall Harvest is Nov. 4 - 9.

My first choice is October 23 through 26 and my second choice is October
16 through 19 if we do Thursday - Sunday again. Either of those weekends
would give us at least one weekend at home between either/and SCC and
Fall Harvest. I'll catch some criticism if I'm away two weekends in a
row.

I know I will also catch some criticism for being away October 16 - 18
if those dates are the ones selected, but I think I can manage it.

My wife and I will attend /*whenever*/ pinkfest is held. Looking
forward to it. What is the current URL for the website? Could not find
one that worked. Thanks,

Just my two cents: I appreciate the conflict with SCC and the idea of
keeping DLV and Pinkfest six months apart. I love Chicago but
wouldn't recommend visiting in late October if you have a chance to
go earlier.

I think the best time of the year to visit Chicago is mid-September -
it is warm and sunny with all kinds of outdoor events going on. The dog
days of summer are over. You get to see why it really is a world-class
city. But October is one of those transitional months.

Early October starts out around 70 degrees and sunny. But the gray
skies, short days and chilly temps come in a hurry. It dips into the
40s-50s before the end of October in Chicago. Definitely not the high
tourist season.

Being just north of Chicago I will agree that October is extremly
unpredictanle.

As an example lets look at Thanksgiving weekend. I
remember thanksgivings where we went to the beach as
well as thse that we were shoveling out of 6" of snow.

Thius is the end of April. We have had near 80 degree
days already this year but only 150 miles from us they
had snow last Saturday.

If we even look at September it can be unpredictable.
But if we stay with the early part of this month we
have the warm base of the earth to help us stay warm.

Afternoon,

I really do wish to make PF this year. The W/E of 10/15 is out for me.

I'd prefer to share the lodging costs with someone...
