Late notices and updates

Schedule notes:

  • Please watch the Diva Las Vegas Discussion Forum for any late notices that are not in time to make this list.

  • Please be sure that you are using the final version of our schedule! Many changes and additions have occured over the recent few weeks!

  • If you are signed up for any of the Bare Escentuals makeover sessions, please read the updates and details on line HERE.

  • Classic Rock and Roll, originally scheduled for Tuesday, has been cancelled.

  • Dancing At Paris on Thursday (ONLY Thursday) has been cancelled. Other evenings are not affected.

  • Happy Hour notes:

    • We use the term "Happy Hour" to refer to a social activity which may or may not coincide with the times for promotional reduced beverage prices offered by some venues.

    • There is no "official" Happy Hour associated with the Triple George dining option on Sunday. Those dining at Triple George are welcome to join us at either the Ice Bar/Grotto Happy Hour at the Golden Nugget or the Denny's Happy Hour at Neonopolis.

    • Please note the reduced Happy Hour duration on Thursday evening and the extended Happy Hour duration on Friday.

  • The daily lunch is being held at different locations each day this year. Please be aware of this. The locations on the final schedule are accurate and may differ from some previously announced locations.

  • Those on waiting lists should consult the Waiting List Instructions for the particular activities in the notes on the final detailed schedule.

  • Please make careful note of the exact times of such things as lunches, happy hours, dinners, etc., for the particular days you are interested in attending. Exceptions to our "standard times" for these activities occur frequently this year!

Early birds:

For those of you who will be in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 29, please join us for an informal get-together Saturday evening at the Bar And Bistro at the Arts Factory.

This is located on the north side of Charleston Boulevard just east of Main Street. Parking is available to the rear of the building.

This appears on the main DLV activity map noted with the marker 10.

This is a mainstream venue, but attracts a very "artsy" clientele, and therefore this activity and venue will be very "safe" and comfortable for beginners.

This will be an informal gathering for drinks, socializing, and optional dining.

THIS ACTIVITY WILL NOT APPEAR ON THE MAIN SCHEDULE.

DLV folks are expected to start arriving between 5:00pm and 6:00pm. No sign-up, just show up. Boymode or girlmode, casual to dressy. Mainstream dress, please, no costumes, clubwear, or slutty/fetish outfits.

Weather:

Advance forecast for Las Vegas for DLV week (subject to change at short notice):

Mostly fair, highs in the mid 70s, lows in the 50s, 1-5% or so chance of rain, possibly breezy at times. (Pack an umbrella. It doesn't rain that often in Las Vegas, but when it does it POURS!)

Misc. legal items:

  • Nevada law prohibits the use of hand-held cell phones and hand-held texting devices when operating a motor vehicle.

  • Recent Legislation prohibits, among other things, discrimination in the area of public accommodations with regard to gender identity or expression. As of this writing, it is unclear what effects, if any, this legislation will have on the use of gender-designated restrooms in the Las Vegas area. Until an authoritative legal opinion on this topic emerges, it is strongly suggested that all DLV attendees follow our long-standing Behavior, Dress, and Restroom guidelines.

  • DUI checkpoints have been reported, sporadically but consistently, around the Las Vegas metro area. Recently-reported locations include Flamingo Road and Decatur, along Boulder Highway between Sahara and Flamingo, eastbound Tropicana just east of the Strip, Valley View and Desert Inn Road, Rainbow and Blue Diamond Road, and eastbound Flamingo between Koval and Paradise. Watch it!

  • Summons' for pedestrian infractions such as jaywalking and walking against signals have been reported in the downtown and Four Corners (Flamingo-Strip) areas. Reported fines are in the $100.00-ish range.

  • Bike officers have been citing motorists who run a "stale yellow" northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard (Strip) at Flamingo. The officers are not visible south of the intersection.

Possible confusing vendor and venue names and locations:

We have a number of activities this year happening in venues which have confusingly similar names or multiple locations throughout the Las Vegas area.

Here's a summary of those activities happening in locations which may be easily confused:

  • Bare Escentuals [sic] is the correct name and spelling of the shop in the Fashion Show Mall which hosts our makeover sessions on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. The name is very similar to another firm, to which it has no connection.

  • Some signage for the above Bare Escentuals shop may say Bare Minerals instead. This refers to the same shop.

  • There are multiple Macy's branded stores in the area. The one we will use for the makover sessions is the one in the Fashion Show Mall on the Strip.

  • There are numerous PT's Pub locations in the area. The one we will be using will be the 532 East Sahara location. This is NOT, the same PT's Pub used in 2012!

  • There are three Blue Ox locations in the Las Vegas area. The one we will be using is the one on west Sahara.
