Large Final Mailing - IntroductionThe set of pages you are now reading comprise the main part of the "large final mailing" which we have talked about. For DLV 2013, we're placing the text of the Large Final Mailing on line as a set of web pages as opposed to a mass mailing. Please bookmark the main Large Final Mailing screen. If you should lose the link to the Large Final Mailing, please e-mail us at: dlv@geekbabe.com and we will resend it to you. In the excitement building up to the big event, it's easy to forget things. Please read over this mailing carefully. This will assure you of a smoother experience at DLV! In addition to the message you received with the link to the Large Final Mailing screens, you should also receive your personalized final confirmation and itinerary in a separate e-mail message. This consists of a summary of the DLV activites for which you are signed up. Please let us know if you do not receive this! Please look over your confirmation and itinerary and report any issues promptly! Adjustments to your signed-up activities may be difficult to make once the event gets underway next week. Please see the DLV Discussion Forum or the associated Yahoo group for any remaining discussion. You're all set! All you really have to do is to show up at one of the activities, such Pre-DLV get-together on Saturday (this is not on the schedule, see notice in "Late Notices" in this mailing), MCC services, any of the Sunday evening activities, Lunch With Ginger, Happy Hour, Monday dinner and Welcome Celebration, etc. If you're a newcomer to DLV, please plan to join us at one of the Newcomer Open House sessions, at 4:00pm on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of DLV week. We will be expecting you.
HAVE FUN - HAVE A LOT OF FUN! DO NOT HAVE YOUR FUN AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHERS! When incidents have occurred in the past, it's often the case that those not involved in the improper behavior are the ones who get the wrong end of the stick! :( If you're new, perhaps a bit uncertain, uneasy, that's ok. All of us have been there before and we know what it's like. We will do all we can to make this an enjoyable and most memorable experience for you. Remember, even though you may not know any of the others prior to DLV, you will be among friends. This year we will be paying particular attention to hospitality toward newcomers. If you get to Las Vegas and feel uneasy about walking into a large group activity and would feel better first meeting someone from the group one on one, let us know. We'll make that happen. If you somehow have trouble getting the nerve to walk out of your hotel room to go to your first activity, let us know. Phone us. (See Big Sister Emergency Hotline in this mailing.) We'll get a Big Sister to you pronto to assure you and escort you, if necessary. Likewise, if you get "stuck" in your vehicle, use your cell phone or find a drive-up pay phone to contact us. We'll get a Big Sister to walk that last mile with you. Don't be shy about asking for a Big Sister escort if you feel uneasy! When you get to DLV, if something is wrong, let us know! We want your comments and feedback, on the spot, positive or negative. If you feel uneasy or you're uncomfortable with anything, ask for a Big Sister to accompany and assist you. If you see anything that could be improved on, please feel free to make suggestions, either on the spot or in the feedback survey after the event.
